Not for any good reason but just not confident about this game
mainly due to the Jekyll / hyde season Richmond are having giving up good leads in just about every game and losing to bottom teams like the Crows

Midfield will be where this game is won
Cripps, Hewitt , Walsh , Docherty, Kennedy , Martin V Prestia , Cotchin , Graham , Short , Baker , Bolton

Danger for Richmond is Cripps & Walsh

Yeh Richmond dont have any match up close to Cripps. Especially with Dusty out Cripps towers over any of our midfielders, I expect him to rip us one again so we need to try and beat them elsewhere.

Agree to disagree.

Baker has gone from a dime-a-dozen hbf’r to a seriously good footballer.

Broad has been exposed with no support but looked great with Rance and Astbury. Is a dime- a - dozen backman who has three premiership medals.

Richmond stuck with them and so they should have.

Hoping Carlton does the same.

I expect this comment from those that don't watch enough of our games and whilst not flashy, he has easily been our most reliable stopper on talls and smalls the last 2 years. So underrated outside of RFC

Agree, he's an old fashioned "do my job" defender. Coaches love them as frankly they will never get votes but every week they hold their opponent to a goal or whatever.

Spot on, every team probably has one or if not would love one, set and forget.

I recon you go through every successful side and they all have 2-3 of them. Key thing is here, watch the games. When was the last time Broad got a bag kicked on him and we are in the era of touchy you know what free kicks...he's a solid lock down defender.

Richmond had about 17 of them during their premiership years.

Yep it's why they won. Honestly might be me getting older but I've learnt these role players are crucial to sides. You aren't winning without them. A good one for Carlton is probably a Zac Fisher, he's more a FWD but you sort of get what I'm saying there.

100% he hasn't had a bag kicked on him in his career - sadly as oppositions supporters we rarely recognize these players.

Dunno about that haha

Yep even internally these players are underrated as many only care what your Martin, Reiwoldt, Lynch, etc do (just using your side as it's your game thread). I recon you ask those players and everything would be, this role player and that role player made my job so much easier. The ultimate one was Kane Lambert (sorry if I haven't spelt it correct). Ultimate team role player for the Tigers.

Who wins Wooshie?
I don’t particularly care JAB being a neutral, but I’ve got Carlton by 7 - 20. I would loooove to see you guys win it all this year, Voss is an absolute champ.
I just want a close, hard game to watch in front of the fire on a freezing ****ing Thursday night!

Curnow will cause havoc. He likes wet weather football. This is when it helps to be slightly shorter in stature than your contemporary's. Same applies to Riewoldt. Should slot 3 or 4 goals tonight.

Carlton at full strength, probably win this. A couple injuries + the factor being that they’ve already beat Richmond, makes me think Richmond don’t take them lightly this time. I reckon Richmond win, but not by more than 2 goals. Hope it’s a cracking game

Team changes since that round 1 game:

Richmond
In: Vlastuin Macintosh Clarke Lambert Ralphsmith*
Out: Martin Aarts Soldo Ross Castagna

*In round 1 Prestia was subbed out in the second quarter and Ralphsmith came on as medisub, but tonight named in the side as a starter.

Carlton
In: Walsh Young Plowman Cotrell Boyd Newnes Durdin
Out: Weitering McGovern McDonald Williams Setterfield Pittonet Cerra

Was about to go to town on you for your first sentence. Then I read on. ;)
