ROUND 14 BYES - Adelaide * Collingwood * Hawthorn * Essendon * Melbourne * West Coast Eagles

Hi all.

This game is taking on some extra significance on BigFooty.

Introducing you to the inaugural edition of Wickzki Week!

You may have come across the poster on your BF journey - since joining in 2010, Wick has established himself as a well respected and highly valued contributor.

What you may not know is the story behind the poster. There are ongoing health issues and with that comes sensitivities, so whilst this week is about him, we’re going to give Wick the opportunity to share as much or as little as he likes.

We want this week to be in honour of Wick’s contribution to the forum which has been immense.

We want to celebrate what he has brought to our community, and provide an opportunity for you all to thank him for it.

Why this week?

Wick is Melbourne born and raised but moved to Queensland in 2015, and has been a Suns member for much of the time since then.

Whilst he is Carlton through and through, both clubs now hold a special place in his heart.

So…how does it work?

  • This week’s Carlton board preview (HERE) has been written by the man himself – give it a read. If it’s like everything else he’s written on this forum, it is well worth your time
  • Special edition of the BigFooty Blues Podcast featuring and special hosts and guests
  • Q&A / AMA – Wick will very generously share his story with us all and has agreed to answer any questions you may have.
Whilst the condition is a rare one, Wick’s insights may be of significant value particularly to those of you who know someone going through something similar.
  • Celebrating Wick’s contribution – many of you have spent plenty of time going back and forth with Wick over the years. If you’ve got any stories or memories you’d like to share, please do!
  • Fundraising – Raising awareness is great but so too is raising funds. And this week we’ll be raising funds for two causes close to Wickzki’s heart:
    • Princess Alexandra Hospital; and
    • Spinal Life Australia
We know it’s a tough time for many but we’re asking you to dig deep and donate what you can to two very special causes.

To kick us off – Chief and BigFooty have put in $100, and have agreed to get right behind this initiative.

Anyone who donates will receive a very special Wickzki Week BigFooty badge!

To donate, simply go to either (or both!) of the links below and follow the prompts:

PA Research Foundation - Make a Donation

Thank you for supporting Spinal Life Australia « Spinal Life

Note re: donations
  • To receive a badge, please post a picture of your donation receipts in this thread.
  • Remember to blur out all personal details before posting the picture.
  • If donating to the PA Research Foundation, please include a note in the field "Leave PA Research Foundation a message" that the funds should go to the Spinal Unit
Thanks all and welcome to Wickzki Week!

My main worry as Suns supporter is how we come back from bye. Hopefully not as sluggish as Lions. Our record post bye game is not good. Away game is never easy.

Unfortunately, Weller, Lemmens, Miller, Budarick are still not ready (Miller only available around round 20) but it seems like Suns do have some depth and some players are hitting form. It would not surprise me if Ellis is back in the line-up.

Probably a couple of goals head start for Blues due to home crowd umpiring.

Despite enormous mental pressure Blues actually don't play bad footy mostly but their conversion is atrocious. It's killing them.

Suns also leave a lot of opportunities out there but started to play as a team and their clearances, contest is among the best.

If Suns play like after HT in Darwin they win. But that's a big if. They must convert opportunities.

Carlton being favourites is disrespectful to the Suns. Two teams that based on recent form are going in different directions.
Bookies know their will be a 2-3 free kick advantage (per qtr) to the Blues. Equals goals.

Get the feeling McKay's 100th milestone is actually going to have a negative effect in this game. We know McKay has been struggling lately and piling on the pressure of a 100th game milestone seems like it's not going to end well. It could be a long night for Harry if Ballard gets a few early intercepting marks on him.

Suns by 26 points.

It could also work the other way, McKay to kick 6 and Blues by 40.

Should be a close game. If they don't win this week they are guaranteed a win after the bye

The coach.... depends on if Voss is able to survive a loss this week?

Given that H crumbles under the enormity of pressure and his issue is all upstairs, I'd say if he has 6 shots on goal then it'll be 1.3 with 1 out on the full and the other failing to make the distance
