I didn’t expect that level of intensity from Port. Can they maintain it? Hawks opened up the game against the Dogs last week with a similar plan. Came out in the second and started using the space

Frees

Port 10
Hawks 3
Most have been there though.

Hawks getting caught too often holding thr ball as not coping well with the pressure

Port actually turned up this week from the 1st bounce

Some exceptional efforts by the umps to find frees for Port and ignore infractions against Hawks.
Wow a lot of tears after just a quarter plus Butters crunch on Nash should’ve been paid too

every one of those HTB decisions was there

You’ll get a lick too, Port clearly the better team in the first but it’s early days - just calm down

All of this for 13 points, Hawks gonna dominate a period soon and pile on a few
Can be a bit of an arm wrestle before the dominance makes it onto the scoreboard, happened a little bit last week with Port v Geelong, Port led by 4 points during the second quarter before Geelong won by 84 points. Hawthorn aren't dealing with Port's relentless pressure.

Look at the frees will you?

Hawks so used to running in waves and giving the first handball over the top, Port has taken that away from them and they haven’t adjusted. Yet, Mitchell will work this out on the fly. I’m guessing they’ll start attacking at 45deg angles to the goals rather than straight ahead, Port are flooding the contest so there has to be space off on the angle.

We've been woeful. We're over possessing the ball going inside 50.

Just need to simplify things.

Not all that different from last weeks 1st qtr, will be interesting to see what the Hawks do in the 2nd

I feel it's probably right to be honest. No skin in the game for either side...Port have just been first at most contests and have been quick to tackle. Hawthorn have been second to it and have put themselves in position to be pinged quite a bit.

I expect this to change when Ports intensity dips even slightly and the young Hawks start leading them to the ball.

Hawks audacity catching up with them. Need to treat that ball like a hot potato ala Bulldogs 2016. Pass pass pass, stop trying to break tackles. Port need to just keep that intercept/rebounding and close down space. Be interesting to see how this plays out.

Hawthorn are shit. No idea how they won last week.

How long until they pan the camera on Albanese?

Well Carlton only made finals on default was the best draw ever for Hawthorn
