Side note, I reckon Pro team will drop before X box now on the back of this. I reckon in a perfect world you wait till all platforms are out, but I think they have to pull the trigger earlier now once online gameplay is working well.

You reckon online will be in a decent state before the Xbox release? 😬

I would say now that we can say the xbox copies getting caught up in shipping issues is now a lie and the game was never in a good enough condition to begin with

Yeah now its hard to believe that it was a shipping concern. Also I recall someone posting around the original release date that a retail worker had told them the earlier Xbox preorder copies were in store but don't quote me on that.

That's the Million dollar question I suppose isn't it!

The last few patches have had online pieces in it, reckon the next few could be targeted at that even more to get it up to speed.

I could of course be completely wrong too.

I think the shipping piece was real.

However I also think there has been a secondary piece that has led to the date we see now that was maybe overlapping with the shipping piece, but this secondary piece is what falls under the NDA.

2 issues like that can exist side by side.

I don't think it's totally fair to discount the shipping issue at this stage.

I'm not even worried about management mode nor the pro team/legend stuff. I just want the game play fixed first and foremost.
I've been happy just playing play now and season mode (realistically didn't think we'd get a deep diving sim/management mode being the "first" year).
I think the consensus is most people would prefer a decent management mode as it what would more than likely keep them playing the game.

Personally think the Xbox launch date was chosen because that's their best guess as to when the game will be in the state it should have been at launch, and we'll see microtransactions mode launch at the same time.

I mean, it's not even set in stone yet, they've given themselves a few weeks leeway. Launch window.

We're talking about the release of the game on a platform that has had absolutely zero updates in over a month so I would say it's a pretty important piece of information.
The way I took Ross' comment was that the Xbox release will not happen until all consoles/PC etc. are on the same patches as this will also enable cross play. So basically until BA have considered the game stable enough and each console is receiving the same patch, Xbox will be released......or I could be completely wrong.

The fact that Xbox has less than 20% share might also explain why there does not seem to be updates regarding release.

Yeah I agree with you on the shipping piece but I obviously don’t think it was that long lasting of an issue to last until today and now we finally get told when to expect the Xbox copies. Theres more to it but in all likelihood we’re never gonna know the whole story or the why/how’s of whats transpired.

I can now (semi) retire from AFL 23. Only popping in to post odd quirks of the game AND test out any new patches that either improve or make the game play worse :p

My only real challenge left is to try and replicate the first quarter and aim for a new high score of 1400 :)

I call bull your on hardest

I mean, if you were the head of a company and had limited ability to say things contractually, you can see why blaming shipping etc would be the go-to.

There is no one reason for the delay, even releasing the PlayStation version before the Xbox version is a reason in itself.

If anyone is so ignorant as to believe, and state, that we are the only game to have issues with platform holders and split releases, and timing issues, then get down to an EB/JB and check out how many non-exclusive "exclusives" there are.

There are 3 options available;
1. Release simultaneously.
2. Release exclusively.
3. Break SimShip and have a split release, resulting in;
(a) Platform exclusive.
(b) Platform exclusive and fines.
(c) Split release and fines.
(d) any of above plus loss of publishing license.

We have navigated the situation as best we can, so as to keep our pledge to release on Xbox.

It's a lose-lose for everyone, apart from Xbox possibly getting a playable and stable game on day one unlike the rest of us.

For the rest there's likely no cross-play and no Pro Teams for at least another 6wks which I am sure will turn a lot of people off and the July/August dates aren't even set in stone so who knows.

I'm not a simple person but what does this entire post even mean? Can someone please explain it to me!!!

It means they took a risk, split the release dates, most likely copped some backlash from retailers/publishers for releasing the game on only some platforms and they run a risk of losing the publishing licence from what I can surmise. BigAntStudios accurate?

No, I get all that. But:

Generally when there are timed exclusives etc. that is common knowledge to the public.

I'm just baffled by the use of the word "exclusive" in this situation.

Can’t wait for AFL 25 to be announced only for everyone to tiptoe over who the developer is and find out it’s Wicked Witch a couple of weeks before release
