I’m not saying it’s the games fault at all, I’m saying sometimes you can get the handball away, other times you can’t and kicking is your only option - I assume this is to imitate a player having one hand free (I’ll admit this animation could be clearer)You made it seem like it was a piece of cake earlier blaming the users, now you're saying it's the game.
You can't effectively do it when your teammates are glued to their opponents, and the only way to get them away from them is to move towards their opponent as bait which results in you getting pinned in a tackle. In Live 2011, you could at least do that and get the hand pass away. Also, the hand balling doesn't correspond with the analog stick controls at times.
You can do it, but it's not realistic and the marker is OP at times. The marking mechanic is poorly designed, there's too many unrealistic 1 try plucked contested marks. It's better in Evo 2 where you could make adjustments and have it be more like real footy, where it's hard to take a contested mark and it's usually a fumble. Even Live 2011 is better where spoiling works without that silly vibrate mechanic, it's just visual timing. It's like a 90% chance to mark the ball in 23.
Are you anything like the top players on the leaderboard, who get the ball and just torp it ?Happy to play you online considering you seem to be the Harlem Globetrotters of AFL23
Haven’t played a single game online tbh. Don’t enjoy it enough to put myself through that. Are you anything like the top players on the leaderboard, who get the ball and just torp it ?
Cause a well executed handball game will beat that most of the time
That's usually how it works in real footy, though, and players with evade tackles irl, too, unlike in 23. There's interceptions irl of course, but they're not every single time like in 23, and 23 doesn't have the option to lob hand pass. The problem with handballing in Live 1 was that it was only that - draw the opponent toward you and handball to your free man (that’s all it ever was, from one end of the ground to the other)
Why is this always an answer when someone else explains their issues? It is not always user error!I swear you guys just don’t know how to play the game very well.
23 actually introduced a lob handball a month or two ago but it’s completely useless. Doesn’t seem to actually lob much higher than a regular handball and still gets intercepted. That's usually how it works in real footy, though, and players with evade tackles irl, too, unlike in 23. I agree with the posters describing the handball mechanics. AI opposition can get quick fire handballs off yet user controlled players can't.
AI tacklers still teleport to tackle players, you drop the ball in a kicking motion yet it then teleports back into your hands when tackled and done for holding the ball, players still stop and are slow to run or AI players stop and teleport 5-10m on field to then collect the ball, wind affects some kicks for goal and then doesn't affect other kicks on goal - quite random, certain players run up when kicking for goal after a mark is just so clunky e.g. Jai Newcombe's kicking action in real life is quite smooth yet in the game is so crap.
Players ending up in odd positions on the ground, had 3 ruckmen in my team with auto interchange on yet the game decided to put a small forward in the ruck when one of the ruck men was player at half forward.
Players still not picking up the ball and stand around. Even set to man on man or whatever it's called now yet opposition AI have free players everywhere. Opposition rarely getting done for holding the ball or even incorrect disposal when it's clearly dropped. Never receiving a 50m penalty when the opposition player runs through the mark.
I can go on but none of these above are user error.

But you’re a very good salesman and make the game sound like it’s much better than it actually is so I’m absolutely keen to play you online and see how good you really are considering we’re all so terrible at the game.
Watching this matchup on youtube will be the most exciting thing to come from this game. SadHaven’t played a single game online tbh. Don’t enjoy it enough to put myself through that.

I’d pay if the gameplay has improved drastically and ProTeam is good. Not paying anything for anymore half arsed efforts from this mob again thoughHow many on here would actually consider paying money for the 2024 list updates if they actually release? After all this nonsense it should 100% be free of charge but I can already see them listing it for $15-20 easy.
There's still huge movement bugs and glitches that the sliders couldn't fix. I had one of my players move into a position I wasn't commanding in the latest patch, the players were still unresponsive, not moving at times and glued to their opponents. I don't think this game is salvageable.any updates on the prospect of difficulty sliders like AFL Evo 2? Can fix the gameplay ourselves.
BA mentioned it months ago but they also mentioned releasing the game on f***ing xbox by August.
I don't think this game is salvageable.
I'm sure Ross has Irrefutable Industry Data that suggests no communication is the best way to go.I'm still shocked at the complete lack of communication. You'd think that if they learned anything from this s**t show it would be to keep your customers informed but they're doubling down on the say nothing method.

Ross and BigAnt every time they see any question regarding AFL23I'm still shocked at the complete lack of communication. You'd think that if they learned anything from this s**t show it would be to keep your customers informed but they're doubling down on the say nothing method.

This is what shouldn't be accepted though "a game with promise".I was pretty forgiving of it because the game actually shows promise, gameplay/visuals-wise, but AFL 23 has been a nightmare of a release and this lack of communication is nothing short of embarrassing - and then there's Cricket 24.
Way too many projects on the go and it's damaged their brand.
Read through the pages. Majority still find it buggy and still have issues. Is this game finally good or still glitchy??
I will say they did end up updating Touk Miller’s face since my complaint (and block), just saying.
