For anyone who has played these modes before, what is usually the goal? Is it just a constant pursuit of getting better players via the pack? Is there a ranking system or something?
A mix.
Getting better players, achieving level statuses, unlockables etc.

Ultimate Team in FIFA/EAFC did add a whole bunch of replayability on top of the gameplay and regular tournaments... so this should hopefully do the same.

I don’t like the odds but I’d really like to see them release even just an article detailing the mode. Answer the common questions, promote the mode and build some interest along the way. Big ask I know 🙏🏼

The funny thing is that every time someone asks JNT if there’s any gameplay improvements, he says he’ll find out what he can say and that’s about as far as it goes
The secrecy is next level and I’d image it’ll be the same with ProTeam until it launches
Irrefutable industry data and the like, ya know

This is all well and good, but right now there is too little variation in players to care about which players you have. It's basically just a name. You need differentiable attributes to make a game mode like this worth playing, that's why it works for something like NBA where the different play styles are obvious, but if Dustin Martin is just as good at goal kicking and breaking tackles as Toby Nankervis then why would I care who's in my team?

A couple of extra updates.... and at least he openly mentions there's more that he can't talk about yet, so the limited secrecy comes from above... maybe Ross, maybe Nacon... not sure.

Lol, like I get it for the major game release that you want to keep some surprises to amp up the release hype, but this is a patch. Why not tell us? Just absurd at this point, it's allegedly already been submitted so it's not like they're not sure what is going to be in the game.

Last night's rant aside, I'm keen to actually check out this mode when it does finally arrive.

I've only ever briefly checked out the mode in NBA etc but don't know enough about who is good in those leagues, or tbh play the games enough, to actually get invested in it. Here's hoping the mode is actually fun enough to keep people coming back.

yeah essentially the main goal is to keep grinding away in the different modes to obtain packs to keep finding better cards to better your team.

typically there is a online mode where you are in a division and play against others in the same division, try get enough wins to get promoted to the next division and claim rewards along the way.

I'm assuming they will have something similar.

Would have thought they’d have shown a few legends on there too but maybe that’s the burning question will there actually be legends like they said ?
This is the only reason I would've been keen on Proteam to play as a Dunstall, Ablett, Kernahan etc. As someone had previously posted the stats are not to far apart and therefore it's just a name.

If no legends, what is the difference then from trading, drafting certain current players into your team in management mode?

Anyone notice they have blurred out the season year at the top of the video? Why hide the date?

I didn’t notice the blur but I think season 2 was intentional. The seasons concept has been in other sports games with modes like this for a while now, basically a limited time rewards tree of sorts.

It's again just a bit of a, "Why is it only a sneak peak video?" though. What have they got against marketing?

The game hasn't gone above 100 simultaneous players on Steam since May 2023. It's been below 30 average players since June 2023. If they think people are suddenly switching on in droves for a game mode they know nothing about, they're even more delusional than thought.
Part of me feels like they either A. already spent all of their marketing budget or B. don't have a marketing department at all.

That or they truly feel like any info inside the company needs to be locked down like Fort Knox...

Or C. Delegated the marketing to the work experience kids or D. Are on a tight leash from Nacon due to acting like kids anyhow 🤷🏻‍♂️

The tone and secrecy in that is weird. The first sentence reads like they are talking down to people asking what other improvements are in the patch.

Then the last sentence sounds arrogant. More so I think they don't know what will pass the testing so they can't actually say as yet.

They just seem unprofessional at every turn really.

Trailer actually looks solid, pleased to know it’s sort of close to releasing. I don’t even have a way to play the game anymore right now but I might go out of my way to buy a new PlayStation to play this. Just not big on online gameplay though, the latency kind of bugs me.
Do not waste your money on this mate. The gameplay is awful and has been since launch. Don't support BA, this game is nothing but a scam.

I have played the game I just don't have a playstation anymore, which I do need to buy anyway. But I've enjoyed the game so I'd be completely fine buying it again.

That was obvious when Ross was contacting guys on this forum and asking them to stop posting videos of the issues.

It also shows the maturity when they block people for questioning some of their decisions.

Which is hilarious because at the start they thought they were all for listening to people’s problems with the game

Back in the day it was about getting to the top on/offline division or completing various campaigns but now it’s just a marketing machine

He actually did that? That is absolutely insane behaviour.

I thought I mentioned it at the time, funnily enough like my post this week about the 60m bomb achievement... the pm was also a year ago ahh memories!!!

Not to mention the pot shots IN the thread about the potato video quality.... which is in part 1) I tune the settings down in the game + I also shrink/compress the video files so they don't take eons to upload.

EDIT

I played a quick 2.5 min/quarters match via the PS trial

Visually it's very watered down compared to the pc version. I can't say it's ps3/360 era graphics (much like the jibes against Evo/Evo 2 back in the day... but again playing them on pc the visuals got better and were nearly there with NBA 2K/Fifa imo).

Audio-wise though, the sound sounded.... better ? the crowd was more vibrant, I was hearing the swooshes of the AFL logo transitioning between the play. Even the individual smart arse call (one sole fan saying go Magpies etc) was audible... and being honest I had not heard that style of crowd noise on pc, the thud of the ball as it hit the LED signage board.

Other things I noticed, occasionally the set shot process was slower ? AND there was like a countdown clock beeping noise as the player was walking and about to kick the ball. I've not had that happen on pc either.

I'm so weirded out by all of this!!

I'm going to rig up the pc to the tv and see if I get the same kind of result as I did on console.

PS5 version

I worked out why I was getting the extra sound effects vs not hearing them on pc. I've got the volume for UI turned down to 0 (the cycling through menus noise annoyed me lol) after turning it down on the PS5 version - that eliminated the swooshing noise when the AFL logo pops up with the transitions in game play. I'm also assuming that's why I was hearing the bell/beeping noise when lining up for most set shots ?

Also random funny fact - if you go on a certain game key selling site ..... you can get the pc version for $33.59 :p
