tough road but more than doable, just gotta take that 2nd half into next week

Interesting that when Selwood got the free for too high 50m out from goal, a St.Kilda player handballed the ball away a few seconds after the whistle blew. How often has that been called a 50m penalty? Selwood should've had his shot from the top of the square, not 55m out. Then that ordinary decision in the last minute....incredibly frustrating.

Re: Cheating scumbag umpire

Pretty dirty about that free kick. Really wasn't there in a game like that. Heartbreaking stuff. We dominated the second half. Such a courageous team.

However, I don't think Geelong can cry poor about free kicks while we have Steve Johnson in our team. His staging is borderline cheating. Embarrassing tonight. Again.

Re: AFL 2nd Qualifying Final - Geelong v St Kilda, MCG, Friday 3 September 7:45PM

Well, Geelong did get a goal that was probably touched, had a poor first half, then kicked 1.7 in the last quarter. I would think they should blame themselves first

Doggy09 - have to agree with you here - look at that first half b4 that one decision

Re: Cheating scumbag umpire

Im absolutely livid, but I've seen pathetic frees like that paid before. Its just the nature of the game these days. Just be happy we are still in the race. This will fire the boys up something fierce. Wont be any more lethargic efforts from here on in.

This team proved again, that even when they are off they are a champion team, should have won tonight despite playing badly.

We're not done with yet. No doubt about it.

Re: Cheating scumbag umpire

I don't think the free was there but oh well. Really hope Freo beat the Hawks so we can have a crack at the Pies in the Prelim final. Tonight was such an important game, the Saints will most likely be in this year's GF. All is not lost, we are a team of champions and we can win the premiership !!! go cats .

Re: Cheating scumbag umpire

I really don't think it was. I would wager a lot of coin that it would not have been paid had St Nick been the one making the tackle.

We got a shit deal all night to be honest. We played like crap also, don't get me wrong, but even in the first when we were kicking away and they did everything they could to keep the aints in it.

Not happy w/ the decision at all- how come
momentum is not taken into account. Such a stupid decision. Really really annoyed at that decision

oh here's a mod, hi winty :p

But that's the thing, its the finals and nobody really cares about the touchy ones. Thats why a half in the back tackle seems a little out of place.

1954.

And Counting.

Oh yes of course.. Lets bring up history..

Except I wasn't trolling moron. It's fact that kicking 1.7 in a final quarter in a final is unlikely to bring a positive result. I was saying you cannot blame the umpires when you had enough chances.

He's been doing that all year and the umpires simply arent buying it. Yet he keeps doing it. Leave that garbage to lesser players, he's better than that and someone needs to tell him so.

Suck it up

Forget the umpiring decision, it's done. Let's feed off it and prepare well for next week., and come out and play well.

Not too many teams could come back the way we did after the rain came.

We played badly and still came very close.

I know what we can do, and I'm not writing us off just yet, it won't be easy, but if any team can win the flag from here, it's us.

One things for sure - Mick Malthouse's heart sank just a little bit tonight.

Re: Well done Cats

the dogs have been on the end of several heart breaking losses in finals against the cats over the years, so i am sure you will get over this one - It was heartbreaking wasnt it ?:D

Re: AFL 2nd Qualifying Final - Geelong v St Kilda, MCG, Friday 3 September 7:45PM

Every time we play Saints the same thing. Their taggers can scrag us, their backmen can infringe and we cannot touch them. Actually thought Mooney's was a free at the end but we got ridden into the ground all night...no free kick.

Love this myth from other supporters that we get a dream run from the umpires.

Re: Well done Cats

You made Footy More enjoyable for the other 14 teams By losing tonight
and Collingwood winning tomorrow night (i think pies should win easy) you will have to play Collingwood to get to the Grand final (if you win next week which you should easy do) and you hopefully Beat Collingwood to and knock them out of them out.

Well done you have made my Night

Go Cats and Bomber Thompson

Yep, never agreed with a Bummer supporter before. Geelong vs Saints GF, those black & white maggots will have to wait another 20 years hopefully:thumbsu:.

Re: AFL 2nd Qualifying Final - Geelong v St Kilda, MCG, Friday 3 September 7:45PM

Prefer Freo, but would love the Hawks actually. I can see some positives despite going into the hard side of the draw, tell me Collingwood arent shitting themselves right now.

Why? If we are to win the flag we have to beat you whether it be in a prelim or GF. I'd rather lose in a prelim but I think you might be shitting yourself about the Hawks. Tell me now Cat fans aren't praying for a Freo victory. Imagine-Cats out in straight sets!

By the way-where were the Cat fans tonight? What a piss weak crowd.

Re: AFL 2nd Qualifying Final - Geelong v St Kilda, MCG, Friday 3 September 7:45PM

Absolutely fantastic game of football.

I hope you guys don't go off on the umpires for that loss as I thought the umpiring was brilliant over the course of the game. Had you capitalised on your chances (and you had plenty of them in the fourth quarter) you'd have blown them out of the water.

Bad luck. I still believe that you'll make the Grand Final.

Good luck.

P.S. Last two GF opponents in a row? Gawd.. I hope you destroy them next week (if you get the Hawks).

And Im saying your stat is irrelevant. Considering it was actually 2.7 save for goal that was disallowed.

A disallowed goal cost us the game. So yes I can blame the umpires, or should I say umpire.
