How good were Matty Scarlett and Corey Enright?

Always so safe whenever they get near it

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Good win...but what is up with the 4th quarter intensity drop? Very similar to the Rd. 9 win, built up a strong lead during the 3rd quarter, only to concede 4 to 6 goals the next quarter.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

well done geelong, well deserved win and the team seems to be hitting its stride right at the perfect time.

Many people will probably rubbish your performance tonight and say the bulldogs should have won through missed oppurtunities but thats not true, your dominant performance in the first place forced us to play catch up football.

gl for the prelim.

Wasn't necessarily a 4th qtr fade. It was the motion of the game. Every time we got 5-6 up they pegged a few back.

Was a good-to-great performance. Need a more 4 qtr effort in a fortnight though.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Just pleased in general with the performance. We still made some facepalm worthy errors but made up for it. The drop-off in scoring in the last quarter is still a bit of a worry but we continued to pressure them which is a great sign that we're still hungry.

It's great watching two sides who play quality football go at it. Kudos to the Doggies for that.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

GOod win :)

Our forward line didnt function that grteat but we got the biscuits :D

Hope SJ comes back in :D

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Good win, had them at arms length most of the game. Whole team went into 100% defensive mode for the last 10 minutes and got the job done.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Go Catters!

Boris you absolute star.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Showed glimpses of our 2007 form today. Now we can get some rest into those players who have niggles, and welcome back SJ in a fortnight's time.

Seems like all the pieces are starting to fit together over the last few weeks, after all and sundry thought the wheels were starting to fall off.

Bring on the prelim! :thumbsu:

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Amazing day from Enright! What would we do without him? Ablett with the clearances when it mattered, Bartel kicking three goals, Scarlett was the brick wall and you really can't tell Milburn's 33.

Overall very good match from both sides.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Enright and Scarlo were brilliant. I really enjoyed the 1st and 3rd quarters and a lot of talk will happen this week saying the doggies had their chances in the last quarter but the cats also missed some easy shots throughout the day.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

those couple goal bursts were brilliant, wojak's run's though few were sensational. Scarlett and enright..

frustrating to see us holding it up outside our back 50, allows opposition to run back far too easily then we're forced to chip or handpass continually till someones buried into the turf and its a turnover.

I can't rest easy

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Kills me to say it but you guys were just too good today. Best wishes for your Prelim - I'm sure you'll be playing in another Grand Final.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Like everyone else I thought Scarlett & Enright were brilliant.

I thought Ablett was our clutch player today. everytime they came back to be within a goal or two, Ablett would win the vital clearance for us that lead to a goal.

Wojcinski was awesome breaking the lines. Great to have him back to his '07 best.

Varcoe's pressure off the ball was superb, Lost count of how many players he ran down.

No Full Back in the history of the game has had more impact in games than Scarlett, Not even Silvagni. His abillity to not only shut a player out of the game is second to none, but it's his attack that sets him apart from anyone ever.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

I think the Bulldogs must have believed all the press about the off the boil Cats for the last 3 weeks. They played it beautifully. Great to see them playing like the Cats of old today. Still a long way to go though.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Don't buy the foot off the pedal stuff TBH. We were shit in the last quarter - shades of last year with the way we simply ran out of puff, couldn't get it outside 50 to save ourselves, and yet again our forward line simply stopped working.

Need to improve badly if we're gonna win the prelim.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Agree with the previous comment regarding Varcoe. I thought he was absolutely brilliant early.

Wojak best on ground first half. Enright BOG second half. Ablett had a great game, a few miskicks but they all seemed to go straight to ottens or mooney...perhaps they weren't miskicks after all.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

On a lighter note...Selwood giving away two free kicks in the space of a minute from head high contact during tackling attempts... :D

Had a good chortle when they showed the tackles one after the other on Ch.10.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

I think the Doggies always finish their games stronger than they start them (best finishers in the league?) - we weathered that in the last quarter, although we definitely could have been a bit better ourselves.

The week off is vital. Who do we play in the prelim, the winner of Adelaide v Stkilda/Collingwood?
