Just re-watched the last quarter - didn't even realise at the ground Lynch had a ping from his mark - i was too busy shouting and screaming!!!

Haha same, and I was at the game ! By that stage I had lost my voice hahahah.

I thought I'd take it a bit easy on our Carlton friend, as they obviously thought they were rocking up to the G next week, but when they came back for more I realised I shouldn't have.

We had more of contested ball and inside 50's i think that's a more telling stat than "disposals", "hitouts" or "clearances". I think the most telling stat that West Coast won was the free kick count and the amount of crucial decisions that went West Coast's way ala, Sheuy dropping the ball.. Cox throwing it, The goal awarded to West Coast when it was clearly over the line, the Walker free kick not being paid, the numerous holding the ball decisions given against Carlton and not against West Coast... I just want a bit of consistency.. I can't hack that people will not acknowledge that the umpiring played a significant part of the result last night.. i'm not saying we would've won but it wouldv'e certainly made a difference if the game was adjudicated to a AFL standard...

Second most telling stat, apart from the 1 above ^^, particularly in a close game, is the 1%ers, wouldn't you say JuDDysthacaptain? Shows more desperation I would think.

Would have thought winning the clearances, paticularly against Carlton was telling.


Regarding the game

We really went on the defensive to early late in the last quarter which was dissapointing

More so considering the exact same thing happened against Freo not that
long ago

Majority Carlton fans are not blaming umpires. I think we all agree the umpiring was really bad but it affected both teams.

You won because you deserved to win and had we won, we would've deserved to win.

My work colleague is an Eagles fans and he keeps bringing up this 7minutes extra shit... what is this based on? I haven't heard anything, yet he thinks Worsfold said something or whatever. Appreciate it

I have only listed up to half time could not stomach any more but you get the drift. Your Eagles mate has misinterpreted. Whoosha was just saying it was a much longer quarter but acknowledged that it was because of all the stoppages - certainly not suggesting it was a timekeeper error or anything like that.

After re-watching the game a few time and seeing the highlights I have come to the conclusion that the Blues were incredibly lucky to even make this game a contest late.

The Hurn HTB. Wasn't to do with the pressure Carlton were applying but from the noise of the crowd. He couldn't hear a teammate from 5 meters away. He kicks the ball away, no goal to Carlton and we win easy.

Mackenzie gave away a stupid 50 after Cox stuffed a handpass up. He doesn't make that error which he wouldn't 9 times out of 10 and Blues don't get the ball. Even if he did, Mackenzie doesn't give away a 50 and Ellard might not have goaled.

One of the goals was when Garlett was second to the ball and was lucky enough to get the goal. Had nothing to do with body positioning or beating anyone. Was about the only thing he did all game. Ball bounces the right way and Carlton lose all self belief and it turns into a 5 goal margin. Before all this happened, Robinson got a free for in the back when it was clear Waters rolled him onto his side and even the commentators were very surprised it was called.

Then after all this had happened about 10 seconds prior to the Walker goal. Gaff got a free kick in which Lynch took the advantage but for some unknown reason the umpire called it back. Gaff kicks the ball 40-45 metres down the line which Carlton got the ground ball but if Lynch got the ball he would have kicked it 55-60 meters down the line to a smaller contest and they don't goal again.


This is only for the Carlton fans that are complaining about the umpires and saying that's why they lost when it's clear we basically handed them the last 4 goals. I'm sure they could go through the whole game and pick every goal that was nearly touched on the line ect and say it shouldn't be included but what I'm purely saying is that umpires had no effect on the outcome on this game and we were clearly the better team on the day. Reason they got so close was because of errors we made and not what they did.*


*Am expecting alot of hate for this but it was bugging me seeing the arrogance of Carlton supporters saying they were the better team despite the fact we beat them twice.

Also forgot to mention that I thought Carlton did a great effort in the game and were much better than I expected. Just as Shuey said. Their going places.
