FTA-TV AFL easily beats NRL on Friday night

Thought the NRLL may have got more this week seeming they had 2 pretty well supported clubs.

Rabbits v Canterbury

Clear win to the AFL again on Friday Night. Even using the two live match formula in two cities the nrl games didnt out rate. The AFL game was on one hour delay. Imagine if Hawks v Saints had been live!

With so many contenders this year I think the AFL will get bumper TV ratings in the finals.

One of your own formula?

You should think about moving on with your posts!!.

Constuctive discussion would be good.

Take a bit of your own advice, that'd be constructive, & explain this formula.

As for the fact that the AFL are beating NRL in total numbers on Friday nights, does it not support the 7 strategy of showing Better Homes & Gardens rather than FNF live.

No doubt that Ch 7 gets a pretty big dividend from doing it that way, they wouldn't do it otherwise (even if it pisses off a fair few AFL fans).

This reminds me that I read recently that Nine is seriously in the hunt to nab Friday and Monday night games (for the AFL).

This is an ideal strategy for them, especially with some confirmation from Conroy that they will be able to utilise their digital stations (much to Fox's chagrin).

Nine can then show Fri/Mon AFL games in the Southern markets (and on their digital station in the Northern markets), and do the mirror image for the NRL - they'll kill both nights.

Be assured that Nine will be prepared to pay big dollars to do this.

WTF? They don't even compete in the same markets! Any difference in NRL and AFL ratings on Friday nights are irrelevant to 7's strategy in Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide - because NRL isn't even shown.

Fair dinkum, is that right, are you 100% on that.
Why would that be? Could 7 be maximising revenue (hence showing BH&G in preference to live FNF AFL style? 7 go live into Tas?
9 sure are, by restricting coverage to Sydney/Brisbane & its NSW/Q regionals.

What are you on about?

I was just making the point that any difference in AFL and NRL numbers on Friday nights are totally irrelevant to any discussion as to whether showing BH&G at 7:30 is a sound strategy.

29k for late night coverage of the Union test into Melbourne. Not great at all.

But it helped them get within about 50K of the Whole National Audience for SNF on 10 without multi-channels or Pay figures.

League beat the AFL on Sunday, hardly surprising given the Broncos boosted the Brisbane Audience.....
