AFL integrity is in question this season

It's a fair point that the integrity of the season is somewhat compromised but what alternative is there? Some teams will invetiably benefit from this, some will miss out.

Delaying individual games would create an impossible fixture mess and still cause integrity issues if they tried to play games at a later date.

The main thing will be that the AFL apply the rules consistently. And, if they have different rules for finals or the Grand Final, declare it early, don't wait until we get to that point before deciding what to do.

You lost to North get over it

Pretty rapt with the boys performance. :thumbsu: :) Nothing to get over mate.

2022 is a free hit for the Eagles and fans. We are now 100% rebuilding and being jerked around by the AFL and covid doesnt matter like it would if we were contending.

Eagles can spend the year developing kids, get pick 1 and not be as crap as most wooden spoon teams. Fast forward 2 years and we will be pushing the top 8 again.

Seems to be a lot of tears from Eagles fans

Ultimately the WA government has mismanaged the situation

What is the AFL meant to do? Put the Eagles and Dockers in a hub? Then everyone will complain about that

The real corruption is playing Gold Coast at home then North in rounds 1 and 2. Absolute dream run there.

Who are the Eagles paying for their fixture?
We only seem to play Sun's when they're up and about.

Would love to get them in the second half of the season for once when they revert to type.

AFL couldn't see where NM would get a win this season, so we played the charitable neighbour and went across with a bunch of blokes who weren't even on the list.

North still managed to nearly **** it up.

Pretty crappy call this. Looking at all the reaction to that game from the media and neutral fans you'd think North lost it. West Coast gave a hell of a fight with a depleted team and just about could've won if it wasn't for some missed opportunities. So what's there to get over? A bunch of our rookies getting some AFL exposure and showing good signs? Being competitive against all odds?

North struggled to beat a WAFL side, not exactly a good thing. They'll be taking the win and moving on pretty quickly you'd think whereas West Coast can actually look at that game with a lot of positivity.

But we know North are average. Knew that going in and we still know that now

WC can’t train because ‘integrity’ but they can field a severely depleted team because of the same pandemic

It’s almost like we’ve learnt something since May 2020 about COVID and how to continue sporting codes through a pandemic.

When the Eagles were limited to training in small groups, the entire competition was still effectively “shut down”. We didn’t know how the virus spread or how many cases were in the community because we were limited by our testing capacity.

The world is different now.

I loved 2020 season, to be the 1st side to win the flag outside of Victoria was quite humorous after all the years hearing especially out west how its unfair that the GF is held at the G every year.

2021 came along and it would have to go down as one of my non favourite Richmond years, a Grand Final in Perth and not only were West Coast not even good enough to make it, 2 more Victorian sides made the GF in WA.

Couldnt have scripted it any better

Let the Eagles tears continue to flow, poor petals.
you gotta have a smile on your dial when you see richmond ninth on the ladder

one of the reason the 2020&2021 grand finals were not played in melbourne was how badly the victorian government mishandled covid over two years.add to that that vic teams had to hub interstate.seems like you have a short memory.

How to trigger an eagles fan base:

1. Tell them their team isnt as good as their fans think they are
2. Tell them they love a good sook

fair few years late but yes mate this league is dogshit corrupt, everyone wakes up to it their own way, then the entire league makes a lot more sense when you take your 'AFL fan' glasses off

Not being jerked around by AFL, blame the WA govt for different close contact rules if you want to blame anyone.

The competition isn’t some giant anti WA/ West Coast conspiracy.

Also wouldn’t your team get to a point where they have all had covid? I mean it’s not like you will have 14 missing every week. If you finish last it will because you are the worst team in the comp, not because of covid.

You think this is an anti WA thing, like we will be upset at anyone criticising the Vic govt on top of anything else.

Unequal id agree with re the draw, but it doesn’t favour anyone specifically.

If it’s corrupt who does it favour? Let me guess you think it’s all a giant conspiracy in favour of Victorian sides?
