AFL LIVE PASS - WHAT A JOKE!

Check your credit cards too. You might just discover that you are paying twice, both the yearly rate and the monthly rate.

The minimal amount of information easily available of what each subscription covers on what device is very annoying.

And don't bother trying to ring anywhere. They all tried to help but basically it was all buck passing.

Email afl.live@team.telstra.com, but not on weekends of course.

I had it for about 15 minutes until I tried to get it to stream on my laptop so I can hook it up to the tv, to find out it only streams to tablets and mobiles. I'm not paying $90 a season to watch footy on a 3 inch screen over my wifi, what an absolute joke. Cancelled my trial immediately

Yep exactly the same. With me. I thought it would be good to have it on the big screen. Nope only on my iphone or my useless ipad.

I looked into it and as far as I could work out it's just not available directly to the tv at all

I thought about something similar but ended up just going foxtel play through my ps4 (can't install foxtel in my building) and split the cost with my housemate, $25 a month each with no lock in contract and you get the epl, cricket world cup and the rugby too. Plus you don't have to go through the hassle of bringing the laptop out and hooking it up to the tv when you want to turn the footy on
Correct me if I'm wrong but Foxtel Play doesn't have Fox Footy does it?

Edit: Might be thinking of Foxtel Go, though I'm not sure what the difference is.

It does on the ps4. I think I read something about Foxtel Play on a PC not having fox footy but I'm not too sure, I just go through the ps4. Stream is ok - no HD unfortunately but it's fine

I think Foxtel Go is just the foxtel app but I honestly don't know what the difference between that and Play is. All I know is I'm signed up for Play

Foxtel Go is just your home Foxtel linked with a laptop or tablet. On further inspection you can't get Fox Footy streaming at all on PC or Mac but can on Foxtel Go through PS. Apparently because Telstra owns the streaming rights...great.

I can only really say good things about the afl live pass. Being in Singapore it works flawlessly, though the internet situation here is infinitely better than that of Australias' I'd suggest trying a VPN like Astrill and signing up for an intl pass.

Run Bluestacks on your laptop, should work. But the resolution is terrible for a wide screen TV
I have downloaded Bluestacks on to my HP G 62 Series notebook computer (running Windows 7).
Bluestacks is currently downloading game data. (Whatever that is.)

How do I get/use Bluestacks to work with and play the AFL Live Pass - 2 week 'free' trial/weekly pass?
Will Bluestacks be able to play and show AFL Live Pass - Annual Pass (bought off the AFL website), or a Digital Membership (bought off one of the clubs websites)?
Can only live matches be played (video and audio), or also full match replays?
This is all new to me.

Also, when purchasing an AFL Live Pass, or equivalent Digital Membership from the club.
After the premiership season ends, do I need to contact The AFL, Telstra, Google or Apple to prevent the subscription being re-newed for the next year/season?

The good news is Andy 'I don't care' Demetriou is gone.

I suggest each of you pull together a petition from change.org and have it submitted to AFL HQ because the new boss is keen to listen to the fans. Already knocked over a few costs in food (if that's what you classify it) at the 'G, meaning he is off to a promising start.

So thanks to some magnificent suggestions in this thread it seems my two options are:

A - Pay for a VPN and then pay for AFL international streaming
B - Buy a micro USB-HDMI cable and buy the AFL live pass

In terms of the above two streams, can anyone tell me if they're any different/which is better quality? ie, is one of them essentially the FoxFooty coverage while the other is some half-assed broadcast with the AFL's own second-string commentary team?

The bulk of fans have been complaining about price of food for years, a few petitions about the quality of AFL Live pass won't change much. The majority of fans are used to free to air and foxtel/going to the pub, people are only coming around to alternative ways of watching games (and paying for them) in the last few years. Plus the TV deal is the mainstay of the league. I expect the next TV deal to stay about the same.

But in 6 years time people will be used to streaming TV and more than ready for change at which time the league will have some tough decisions to make. It's only then when they really commit to streaming as a revenue model that the quality of the service will pick up.

Anyone had any luck running the live app to a TV via cable from an iOS device?

Also: Can anyone confirm if the international subscription lets you stream live from desktop?
International works great for me streaming to my lap top on WIFI to my TV thru HDMI.

Only problem is the DVR bullshit feature they have that delays the "live" by about 30 secs - which is HORRIBLE if yo have the streaming sound down and are listening to the radio thru the Gameday app.

Actually it's $60/month for HD plus $150 install with a minimum 12 month contract. $870 v $90.

And streaming HD internet for 3 hours a game is free is it? Can you give me a link to this internet company that provides you with broadband with a high usage limit for $0 per month please?

Whatever mate doesn't bother me what you all do. IMO having no lags, no issues with payments, no problems recording any games and sitting down to watch HD football on my couch whenever I want without rigging up the laptop and the HDMI cables.... Its worth every penny.

Thanks Daz. Anyone running this setup locally through VPN?

Who doesn't have high speed internet? Anyone with capped limits are normally people through telstra or optus. TPG, IINet and all the NBN providers have internet that you would be paying on top of foxtel anyway.

ps... How did you post this, through the internet or your foxtel subscription? Do you get $0 internet with foxtel?? I havnt seen this option

You don't have to pay for a VPN - just install the Hola plug-in through Firefox and select a country other than Australia. Too easy.

Is ridiculous, i signed up for the AFL League pass hoping to stream the NAB games which were given for free. But once i tried to play it, was told that i couldnt access it in my current region.. Australia... So i assume this was only for international fans, so that the AFL could gouge its local fanbase. I then went to the AFL website to signup for the free NAB Cup telstra pass it was advertising, i was then redirected to the AFL app on my samsung tablet which then asked me to pay $7 a week or something like that..
