What makes Ballantyne hard for other players to cop is not so much his sledging, but his combination of three things - serious sniping, on-ball free kick-drawing low level physical/verbal provocation, and sledging. It's a difficult combo to deal with.
In local footy, he's the sort of bloke the opposition refuses to have a drink with after the game.

Just about described she who must be obeyed.

"Thurlow is supposed to be the most ready to play R1 pick we have had since HarryT.
I want GHS to blitz , come in and dominate the centre."

Gee I hope this is right about Thurlow, hopefully he, Murdoch and Guthrie can form a long partnership like we have enjoyed over the last 10 years with our defenders.
I think GHS will be one of those guys that when they get to 50 games will become very solid/good AFL players, so we might have to wait a bit yet but he'll get there.

Thurlow is Murdoch quick apparently, good ball user & ball magnet too - having those two running the wings could cause some damage for oppositions. Also allows Varcoe to stay forward and keep some forward pressure, as well as being very good around goal.

EFA :p

I think back to the draft thread on this board about Thurlow, if he can slot in straight away and perform then he's throwing some serious egg on alot of peoples faces.
I hope so!

Wouldn't say he's throwing egg in people's faces. It's not unreasonable to expect first year players to take a while to develop. They almost always need at least a year or two.

If he can perform straight away fantastic, but let's just wait and see.

There were alot of people, inc alot of Cat supporters who didnt think much of him and thought it was a massive mistake recruiting him over Grundy (who I dont think will be all that fantastic anyway).
I think Thurlow could have a very very good career at the Cats...

Given our tough start to the proper season there's going to be no room for half arsed performances in the NAB Cup this year (like last year). So while I don't care if we win or lose all I want to see is the players having a crack.
