No, just "woke" I think.Woke up with a hangover I see and it must be a ripper now you have me pegged as a moderator.
I recommend that you take some Bex from your medicine cabinet and have a good little lie down.
No Ryan?? In all likelihood Derek has him one of the next 3 on his board…So I know picks will be traded and bids will come etc but the reality is we can have 2 of these 9 players if we want them... With what will be maybe picks 29 & 31
#15 Olli Hotton
#16 Lewis Hayes
#18 Brayden George
#21 Lachlan Cowan
#22 Henry Hustwaite
#24 Harry Barnett
#25 Coby Burgiel
#27 Mitch Szybkowski
#28 Isaac Keeler
Melbourne look set to be one of the suitors for Greater Western Sydney’s coveted pick at the start of round two after drafting a second key forward in as many years.
The Demons aggressively tried but failed to move up the AFL draft order, including offering three first-round selections for Essendon’s picks four and 22 at the time.
Exciting forward Brayden George - who suffered an ACL rupture in August - the draft’s best ruckman Harry Barnett and medium-sized defender Jakob Ryan are potential targets for the Demons.
You don’t think Barnett meets a need, and a better player may be available at 40 in next year’s draft? Another Harrison?Maybe try and get back in to next years draft a bit more
With who is still available we can potentially nail both.So for the rest of our picks, do we go for needs, or keep to best available?
Gut feel reckons we will be sliding back tonight on our two selections
Can’t see Hine deviating at all from best available. He’s been pretty clear on that frontSo for the rest of our picks, do we go for needs, or keep to best available?
I wonder if we could move one of our picks up slightly and bring in a latter round future second for the other? Depends on who has the capital.I agree with this, I reckon there will be a few still on the board, which might be enough for someone to offer up a future 2nd round pick. We have a decent hole next year and I think Hine would be looking to address that where possible.
Interested to see how Essendon play tonights draft, wouldn't be surprised if they traded their pick 25 back knowing GWS, WC or WB would likely bid on Davey here.
Running Tasmania defender Lachie Cowan has some strong interest in the teens, and Sydney and Bulldogs will have a close look early in the second round.
The draft’s best ruckman Harry Barnett is unlikely to last long on the second night, with the Giants, Magpies and Swans showing plenty of pre-draft interest.
Melbourne might come for the opening pick of the second night with Barnett in mind, while Adelaide has also been working the phones as they look trade back in.
Key tall Lewis Hayes, running defender Jakob Ryan, smart midfielder-forward Olli Hotton, swingman Max Gruzewski and the exciting Brayden George are are five others to watch for tonight.
Charlie Clarke? I mean I think the bulldogs will take him before us… but if he’s there he’s worth considering
Same too Gruzewski…
I'd say we are a pretty good chance to pick up Jakob Ryan with one of our two remaining picks.
I hope we do because I want to see some of you melt and then later go on to see him be a star.
Us bringing in Ryan will largely depend on Melbourne acquiring the first pick tonight. I’d also love to see the melts, but I think the issue was more about it being with our 1st than Ryan per se.I'd say we are a pretty good chance to pick up Jakob Ryan with one of our two remaining picks.

Hayes could be rated next by Derek… he always said he would take best available though. Reckon he’ll be gone pretty quickly, but if he’s still there, I reckon we will pounce.Given Allen has no defined position yet… I don’t think we go tall utility types in Ryan or Hustwaite
Hayes they would’ve taken already if they wanted a full back or half back… but probably feel like Moore, Frampton and Dean (and Kelly if it clicks) get the job done in that regard
Don’t see a point in a stock standard centre mid in say Szybkowski who long term is going to be behind several others in the pecking order
Wouldn’t surprise me if they go a project forward like Keeler, Lemmy or even Gruzewski… who as an Oakleigh boy has been under Hines nose the whole time
…Cause McStay, Mihocek and to some degree Johnson are the only true 190cm plus marking forward’s we have
Burnett is the best ruck option… but they might want have faith in Begg and/or want a mature age ruck back up instead of a kid
Otherwise it’s the smalls in Clarke and Hotton (if available), Burgiel, Richards, etc
Snap up Clarke if he’s still there… But with Bianco and then young Harrison and Murley (redrafted)… I’m not too keen on too many more smalls
Cowan looks good but has the go home factor when a TAS team starts
So I guess I’m at the point where… unless someone they really like slides… I hope they only take 1 player and then package up the remaining two picks and move into the 2023 draft
Can restructure the list to fit in less senior but more rookie spots…
but imo no point taking the final 2 picks tonight knowing that
a) you need to keep likely ‘average’ players for 2 years instead of 1 as a rookie
b) said players are likely to end up delisted like Rantall, McMahon etc
c) not having decent 2nds and 3rds next year will hurt the pies 2023 draft/trade prospects
Us bringing in Ryan will largely depend on Melbourne acquiring the first pick tonight. I’d also love to see the melts, but I think the issue was more about it being with our 1st than Ryan per se.
