What is going on at Aspley? They get all these guns from down south, win 2 games so far, and now the coach has resigned. Quit today apparently or was he pushed? Sounds like trouble in paradise.;);)

1st i have heard of this, but the rumour mill at yesterdays game was in over drive.Players dont resprect the coach and do not listen to him.In saying that aspleys senior players must earn respect on the field. They are seagulls and when the game is in the balance they refuse to put there head over the ball and win the hard ones.In the 1st half yest they were tremendous but once the game was gone they put the white flag up and this is not the coaches fault. But intersesting if this rumour is correct. With the amount of money spent on recruiting.maybe the committe who bought these players should resign themselves instead of getting pissed in the bar every night

Heard that today that he is gone. Pushed was mentioned. After the way the last 3 coaches have left there be interesting if anyone will want the gig. Interesting week ahead in hornet land no doubt.

Well, well, well! Now Russ Harding is the most recent coach to cop the chop by the Aspley administration - The Aspley Sacked Coaches club will soon challenge Richmonds status! I will not comment on Russ's credentials or whether the decision is justifiable, what I will say is that while the small group of Hornets administrators that make all the 'important' football decisions continue to: a) remain involved, b) think that they actually know about footy, and c) maintain a short term mentality - NOTHING will change.

In reality the QAFL may just have a bigger problem in the guise of a Hornet than any issues they face with the Magpies. The Aspley problem is that they have plenty of $ to spend, but the wrong people trying to run the footy section, and don't tell me Russ Harding had a free run, because he still had an appointed 'minder' who should be known as the Presidents 'heels'. I know too many people who have tried to solve these footy administration problems within the club, but each have, in turn, been 'squeezed' out!

Good luck Hornets - the competition needs a strong northside presence, but watch out because I would not be surprised to see the Seahawk coming! :D

Word from State training was that the Aspley boys were relishing in the extra intensity - something they said is lacking in the sessions Harding was running. They claim to have taken this concern up with him directly but fell on deaf ears.

If you don't train with intensity you won't play with intensity.

There may well be committee issues at Graham Road Chikka but how does the coach get away scott free in that case?

What a joke the AFLQ are!!

Report on their website this morning that Aspley had SACKED Harding(which I knew to be false) and had a long article on it.

I just went to the site and what do you know? the article has been removed. Then went to the Aspley site where they confirm he resigned and denied "reports to the contrary".

They should issue an apology to Harding and the club.

Hardo wasn't the problem at the club...tail wagging the dog and too many listening to players

There is a lot of sense in these remarks!!!

they have put a new re worded story about the matter on the website now. they have removed the bit where they have acused the voluteers of knowing about his demise before he did

In the last month,Aspley has beaten panthers, led labrador by 5 goals, led redlands towards the 3rd qtr and behind by 10 pts at half time against panters on sun.To me,the coach has them up and running before kick off to get good starts to matches.Redlands kick 10 last qtr goals, panthers 14 2nd half goals, labrador win by 5 goals. The coach cannot take all the blame for these fade outs.
Msgs sent out to aspleys players on sun were ignored.Players refuse to come off for a break

should be a great game on sat at vulture land with tom tarrant, ash evans returning for there clash with southport.evans bog in 2s last week.

Do aspleys playing staff(some of them) get sacked if they do not win many more games for the rest of the year xcept the magpies game

Is it true Aspley were only granted a 2 year licence when they were re omitted into the senior comp?If so,I agree with oddball, watch out the sea hawk or maybe aflq do the right thing and get the eagles back.

Didn't say ALL of the blame Chikka. I said how could he get away scott free as you would have us believe is reasonable given your comments above.

You play how you train.

Call me naive but I'm pretty sure the eagles DON'T EVEN EXIST? Where's the $200K plus cost of running a State League team going to come from?

I don't know what you boys up North keep on whinging about. They're gone - get over it!!

Thanks Roadie, like myself you are a man of great knowledge and stature.

By the way, I don't care if Russ Harding was sacked or resigned the reality was that he was not supported by those who appointed him. The Hornets need to understand that their reputation as a good club is getting a beating and attracting both a good coach and quality players is not going to get any easier after this weeks debacle.

Didn't realise they had that sort of reputation to start with Oddball. You wouldn't pick it reading through this thread. In fact, interesting to read the post that the whole thread starts with.
