Just thought i'd get the talk kick started about next week, obviously a fair bit will depend on how some players like Didak Fasolo go in the VFL this weekend.

The players most at risk for mine are Dywer Josh Thomas and Witts.

Dywer has done some good things this year, but he only averages 1 tackle a game which suggests he is a bit of a down hill skier at the moment and needs to work harder both ways. Also only had 10 possessions. There has been a lot of Dywer love, being a mature age recruit, but i think he needs to add defensive gut running and tackling to his game.

Josh Thomas did some good things but was fumbly, could make way for fasolo or didak, didn't cement his spot.

Witts showed promise but the defensive side to his game was easily exploited by mcevoy, might not go with the two ruckmen against the dockers.

For mine the changes are, whoever plays the better VFL game out of Fasolo and Didak comes in and possibly Dywer goes out as Josh Thomas did lay 6 tackles and get more of the ball.

Kennedy keeps his spot and gets a full game

Not rushing to make changes, I'd prefer to keep J Thomas in the side for a consistent run at it... Didak/Martin/Fasolo would all be options if they play well in VFL this week and we might chose to go in with a smaller line-up in which case Witts probably makes way.

I think for team continuity sake we should only make 1 change max this week. be interesting to see if we persist with the 2 ruckmen or whether Jolly goes solo again. Martin is definitely a chance, but i think both didak and fasolo are ahead of him at the moment as they have credits in the bank.

I'll wait for the VFL game but I don't think there's any chance we can go in with the two ruckman again. Our forward line was very slow and as soon as it hit the deck (with no Sinclair or Fasolo and an out-of-touch Krakouer) St Kilda just swept it away. Maybe it was a combination of these things but for me Witts doesn't hold his spot.

We were far better when Witts was subbed out, and Lynch was allowed to roam more.

In - Ball (fingers crossed), Didak/Fasolo
Out - J.Thomas, Witts

No way ball will play in the big open ground at subi next week... i think you save him until round 10 against the lions. Give him a few VFL games and a week off in between then get him in.

Out: Witts
In: Ball/Williams/Didak pick one dependant on needs.

No more sweeping changes, let's let the guys in the team right now the chance to gel for ****s sake.

Out: Witts Dwyer
In: Paine Sinclair

If Sinclair plays well on the weekend he's in. Tonight showed that if we want to play Krak/Didak and another KF (which I think we do to avoid Cloke getting overrun when Lynch goes into the ruck) we need to play a defensive forward. It's a necessity. St Kilda aren't close to being an elite back line but they killed us on the rebound.

In: Paine
Out: Witts

Lynch to 2nd ruck role while Paine is the one to play permanent forward.

Witts will be a good player in a few years, but he is still too slight and lean. Reckon he will be an absolute beast in the future though.

J. Thomas probably on the fringe if Didak gets up. Didak would be a perfect sub for Patterson's.

Hmm. Can't disagree with your reasoning, hbf. Might have to edit my post. But what if Sinclair fails to fire in the 2s. How would you feel about Martin in and Blair as purely a defensive forward?

Yep, pretty much that if Sinkers doesn't show enough Sunday. We definitely need someone in there that has speed and can harass and pressure especially at Subi.

I Want to See Luke Ball

  • Must Blood for Future
  • Hudson no good
  • Been playnig grate in VFL

The 6 day break between the VFL and AFL games hurts Luke Ball, almost certain he'll return vs the Cats if he gets through this weeks VFL game.

I want another forward in to help Clokey out, and Didak and Paine are the choices, Fasolo needs 2-3 games in the VFL to get some form back.

In: Paine
Out: Witts

I wouldn't care if Witts plays again though, just think the three ruck system hurt Lynch tonight especially.

I'm happy for Kennedy to be that player, and Sinclair can spend some time learning to balance before kicking a footy.

Frankly I don't ever want to see Josh Thomas again, not this year anyway, he hasn't had a single good touch in the seniors. Oh he is all sorts of terrible. I can't believe he could dominate a VFL game, he's fumbly, slow, unaware, , all sorts of wrong things.

J Thomas, Dwyer, Witts all should be out for the Freo game replace by Dids, Fasolo, and ah maybe just put Dwyer on the sub.

No Ben Johnson love? He's a certainty if he gets through the VFL game I reckon. Still need another small defender.

Edit: Ignore this, BJ not even named in the VFL squad, has a calf injury.

Fair enough, but personally I'd go with the bloke that's played the role a few times beforehand. I think it's a more difficult role to play than some people give it credit and Kennedy is a naturally attacking player who would have to curb his instincts.
