Did we all watch the same game? Witts was all at sea in the ruck. He was easily held out of contests and looks a year at least away from being a decent player. I know that many posters feel they have to love him because of the hype and reputation, but he is not ready yet for AFL.

Dwyer was in the Footy Classified list of 7 and after his game tonight I can see why. He doesn't get the ball often enough, while tonight he also lacked a physical presence on the ground. Time for a rest and a rethink.

Josh Thomas maybe needs one more opportunity to show what he can do at clearances. His outside game and kicking skills look a bit ordinary, and at times he looked slow. When Ball returns, Thomas is likely to be gone.

Hopefully, Sinclair will not return as some suggest. If we require him to balance Krakouer, then preferably not play Krakouer.

There should be plenty of players in the VFL hoping for senior selection next week. Williams surely has something to offer our defence in the small man department.

^ Good post, most of 'us' are waking up to the fact that Bucks will NOT accept lazy footballers.

Out: Witts Dwyer
In: Paine Sinclair

If Sinclair plays well on the weekend he's in. Tonight showed that if we want to play Krak/Didak and another KF (which I think we do to avoid Cloke getting overrun when Lynch goes into the ruck) we need to play a defensive forward. It's a necessity. St Kilda aren't close to being an elite back line but they killed us on the rebound.

I thought one of the reasons Sinclair got dropped was his lack of pressure. At least Krakouer got on the scoreboard. If your not laying tackles, you need to apply scoreboard pressure. Sinclair has done neither.

Out: Witts, Dwyer

In: Didak, Martin

Witts: We looked to tall and slow with him on the ground.
Dwyer: Has been serviceable but needs to be re-energized in the VFL, let him stay at home.

Didak/Martin: Good VFL form, deserves a game.

Kennedy to play full game as defensive fwd.

Didak as sub.

Ball returns for Thomas Round 8/9.

I don't think too many changes are required. For once no injuries!! Our team turnover has been ridiculous this year, not intentionally, but to win games consistently you need a consistent team on the ground.

Witts will probably go out, was nice try to blood him, but for balance two rucks just don't work anymore. On a big ground at Subi we will need more runners.

Blair & J Thomas were not inspiring, other than good tackle counts. In a few weeks I feel Ball & Beams will replace these two. J. Thomas is going OK, his work in close is great, but struggles outside of this - often its the other way around with young players. Both stay until the two Bs are backin business.

Kennedy I would like to see get a full game or 3/4s. He is lively. Overall we seemed a bit slow & he can give us a bit more bite.

Dwyer I love as every time he touches it something happens, a classic assist player. However, he isn't getting enough of it and I am not terribly clear what his role is. His position may be challenged if Didak & Fasolo play well in the twos.

obviously pending on the VFL game, but based on tonight; I loved big Witts, but our forward line cannot have all 3, so he has to go. Kennedy, Seedo and JT deserve another game but will all ultimately be phased out in the next month when some players return. Dwyer may miss out.

IN: Didak
OUT: Witts

only other change i would do would be if a Fasolo or even Ball absolutely dominate, i would give Dwyer a spell.

I thought one of the reasons Sinclair got dropped was his lack of pressure. At least Krakouer got on the scoreboard. If your not laying tackles, you need to apply scoreboard pressure. Sinclair has done neither.

Sinclair had 17 tackles in the first three rounds and was 4th in pressure acts in round 4, his ability to apply pressure isn't lacking.

If we want to play an attacking forwardline with a genuine third tall and Krak/Didak there needs to be a compromise.

but he had one tackle between rounds four and five, which is essentially the reason he was in the side...

I agree though, cannot play 3 marking talls, Krak, elliott and a rotating mid. Kennedy should start next week, see how he goes in that forward role. I would drop witts for didak and give him the green vest.

No Ben Johnson love? He's a certainty if he gets through the VFL game I reckon. Still need another small defender.

Edit: Ignore this, BJ not even named in the VFL squad, has a calf injury.

Johnson has looked this year like the game has passed him by.. and he isn't going to be any younger come September. I think we need to look at a more long term option. Maybe that's shaw going back to the back pocket and giving us run off his man like he has done so well in the past? or Williams... there are a few options

Goldsack was good will continue to play backline,
Witts out but still need a biggish player when Q stick in ruck and Jols on pine.
Dwyer wasn't outstanding but his decision making going forward means he should stay,
I tell you what if Martin dominates again it means he simply must play.
So overall i don't like changing the team,
But we're still struggling in areas it seems.
Witts will be out and if Paine shows form he's in
Martin dominates again not playing him would be a sin
For him JT will probably be shown the door
Didak is close as our kicking forward is still quite poor

Haha not sure that made any sense from a poem point of view ;)

I'm a Sinclaire fan but if he wants to be playing senior foot again this year he needs to contribute by getting more of the ball. Elliot is near as good defensively yet he gets involved in the play much more, & I'm not just talking about hitting the scoreboard here.

Even with Krakouer in playing (who I don't think is as bad defensively as some seem to) I doubt we need another defensive forward in to cover him. As I said Elliot does this pretty well and in the next 6 - 10 weeks we will see a surplus of quality midfielders who will end up spending a fair bit of their time in forward 50. They will all lay good defensive pressure and will definitely contribute more in play than Sinclair is capable of atm.

Really the only way Sinclair could conceivably come in to balance up our attacking small forward was if Elliot was dropped or Didak and Krakouer were both playing up there as well. However, I'm hoping that if Didak gets back in they'll play him on a wing.

in: One of Didak or Fasolo, and Martin - Martin has some weaknesses in his game, namely kicking and decision making at times, however we've been that bad in clearances this year that he should get an opportunity imo

out: Witts, Thomas

One game is a bloody small sample size to say that the second ruckman doesnt work.

Out: Dwyer (rest)
In: M. Williams/K. Martin

Obviously pending VFL results. Dwyer has done well and im liking his game but if guys like martin are continuing to perform, then they deserve a go. J Thomas would be close to out for me as well.

Frankly I don't ever want to see Josh Thomas again, not this year anyway, he hasn't had a single good touch in the seniors. Oh he is all sorts of terrible. I can't believe he could dominate a VFL game, he's fumbly, slow, unaware, , all sorts of wrong things.

J Thomas, Dwyer, Witts all should be out for the Freo game replace by Dids, Fasolo, and ah maybe just put Dwyer on the sub.

!

Krak looked creaky out there, but needs another game or two to find form. Showed a couple of Candy Man glimpses. We are much more dynamic up forward when he is on song. Should stay in the team for next week (and can visit his rellies).

Krakouer gets one more week but if he plays like last night again he is back to the twos for a few weeks. He looked very slow and seemed to play for free kicks every time he went near the ball.

I think Witts needs to go for a small. He showed a few glimpses but not enough to stay in the team and is a fair way off regular senior footy.

Dwyer was poor. Still like the look of him when he has the ball in hand but he didn't get enough of it. If Didak and Martin both impress again then Dwyer could make way.

Josh Thomas was just ok. I'm not a fan of too many changes, especially after a win so JT gets one more week.

So pending the VFL outcome my changes are

OUT - Witts and Dwyer

IN - Fasolo and Didak

Obviously pending on results in the VFL.
Going by recent form I would love to see Didak come in.
Ball is still 1-2 weeks away.
Martin has been really good at VFL level if he has another big game tomorrow could see him in.
Fasolo needs to play really well which I think he will but would give him 2 weeks in the VFl.
I liked Caffs role as a tagger, Freo have some good run off half back so he could possibly play a defensive forward role...

INS: Didak, Martin
OUTS: Dwyer, Witts

B - Clarke Brown Goldsack
HB - Shaw Reid O'Brien
C - Thomas Swan Seedsman
HF - Macaffer Lynch Sidebottom
F - Elliott Cloke Krakouer
INT - Martin J.Thomas Kennedy
SUB - Didak
