Lets settle on the Ball calls... the club wont pull a Chicago and hold him off for the whole season (okay maybe im a slightly disgruntled Bulls fan, but I digress). We can go without him for another fortnight, as we have for the last 29 games.. it'll be better for him in the long run.

I'll be a little disappointed in the club if we drop Witts.. what do we gain from having him in one week and out the next? Throw the entire two ruck idea out with one game? Doesn't seem reasonable to me

Here's a crazy idea...how about we use McCaffer to tag Crowley? That way we might be able to free up Pendlebury. If Freo try to get another player to tag Pendlebury, I'd back Pendlebury to easily beat them. If they try and get another player to tag McCafffer, then they are robbing Peter to pay Paul, as that player will be focused on taking out McCaffer and not wining the ball. McCaffer could also hurt Crowley on the counter.

Thoughts?

No way that would work... crazy idea!

Macaffer would just be following crowley who would be following pendles so suddenly there is a free fremantle player and Pendlebury is still being tagged. Plus Crowley doesn't really damage you with the ball so who cares if he gets it?

Props for imagination though :p

That is the most crazy thing I have ever read! It's just plain crazy.

Just crazy enough to work... :p

I love it when a plan comes together!

I'd have Ball starting and manage his time.

Don't know if it's possible to have Didak and Ball in the more I think of it. Krakouer is underdone as is Kennedy.

Maybe Witts out for Ball.

I don't know if ball is the type of player who will offer much as a sub. Carlton had some success using Brock McLean as a sub but the conditions suited him

If Ball plays, I'd think he'd start, with the intention of subbing him out in the 3rd Qtr. but it's a bit of a risk given injuries can arise at any time in the game.

Was at the G though, not the longer Subiaco. Different kettle of fish

Ball won't play, even as sub. IMO we require a runner for the sub, not an in and under midfielder like Ball anyway.

But Freo play a very different game. They chuck numbers on the ball and lock it up. You need good insiders. Freo don't have the best in and under mids, so it is an area we can get an advantage.

I thought McLean was awful as the sub and it was a part of the reason we came back (no real run influx)

N.B - no mooney or I'd say the paperwork for his promotion would have been lodged :(

No he didn't. My opinion on Harry is fairly simple. He is at the limit of his ability and especially his skill level. He is not a smart player, who reads the play well and has the poise to cleanly hit a target. He rarely gets his own ball. I regard the wing as an important position that requires footy smarts. Having Harry in this position is a waste and prevents others from stepping up. As I see it, Buckley is using Harry here because he has no other alternative. Many see Harry as a Sacred Cow. This probably has to do with his many media appearences.

Oh I soo disagree, Harry has been good, who would you replace him with? His run and carry (despite a few brain fades) has been excellent. The fact that he is playing a new role in a depleted backline and has adapted his play shows he is not only a smart player but very versatile with good skills.

This would effectively have us enforcing a 2v1 on one of their least effective ball players.

Perhaps you mean to say that Pendlebury should tag Mundy and that way we force the 2v1 upon them.

All the interchanges these does and our midfield rotations makes all the fancy stuff pretty difficult these days anyway

I think we've established that this is a crazy idea... :)

We probably need Pendlebury to have a good game for us to win, so someone needs to create a chop out for him. McCaffer could be the one for that. But it seems very unlikely/not sensible for him to tag the tagger, as everyone has pointed out.

Lord Crazyhorse over and out on this topic. :D

Sportsnewsfirst also ran with Luke Ball returning earlier in the week so I wouldn't pay much attention to them.

Maxy was listed as 2 weeks away on the updated injury list, he won't play on Saturday, either will ball.

0/2 for that website this week so far.
