It’s brutal isn’t it. My eldest is roughly 1000 after 14.5 years. My second is roughly where you are. Hard to see it being inside another 10 years.

For context my cousin was around 7k in 2015 and ended up being upgraded to full in mid-2023.

No designated AFL Members area today. Just open slather
Don't get me started on this.

Prior to COVID it would have been easier for an East German to sneak into West Germany back in the day, than a non AFL member somehow gaining access into the AFL reserve.

These days, for most games, anyone can sit in the AFL members and get prime seats on the wing. It's complete horse shit and dilutes the product that we pay good money for.

They killed the golden goose. Greedy pricks
The whole concept will die in the arse.

Victoria is the only real market of potential visitors. there aren't enough passionate supporters in New South Wales and Queensland. Western Australia is too far away.

How many times is a Victorian supporter seriously going to attend a Gather Round? once, maybe twice? it's not an infinite market. I'm not into slagging off Adelaide but it as a destination isn't dynamic enough to encourage repeat visits.

People in Tassie, WA have a far easier time just going to Melbourne for a weekend. you can see the same amount of football and not be bound to a specific weekend, meaning it's more flexible to organise and without hotel and airline gouging. people in those areas are more likely to have friends in Melbourne, too, and there's also the chance of doubling up and planning some footy around a gig or other event.

Just as an example, it's about $1100 Perth to Adelaide return for Gather Round. the next weekend from Perth to Melbourne is 400 bucks.

The Barossa will help this year but I imagine next or the one after they'll be having games in front of 5,000 people and it'll be looked back on as a short lived fad.
