Rohan Connelly tweet :
"By my count 9 former @GWSGIANTS players now on carltonfc list? That has to be a record, surely? #DeadlineDay."

I've said it before but how is Carlton ever going to beat the Giants stars with the Giants discards? SOS can't let his babies go. He did fail Form 5 twice so he's no genius.

The Hawks on the other hand, in JOM, TOM and the Ryan, have top shelf guns for the next 10 years. Add a couple more next year and we are in business again.

• If a Nominating Club does not have enough points to secure a F/S or Academy selection in a given Draft, the points required will carry over to the Club’s first selection the following year.
In this case, points will be deducted prior to the trade period to ensure the Nominating Club pays it points debt, rather than trades picks away.

EDIT
so our 2nd round pick (our first selection) will slide back to make up any equivelant draft points we have in negative balance.

Clubs will not be eligible to participate in the bidding system if they still owe points going into the next draft.

SO..if jarman is nominated before 88, then: SUCK IT SAINTS OUR 1ST PICK NEXT YEAR JUST GOT A WHOLE LET LESS VALUABLE

Its will come off our 2nd not the saints pick.

Remember tho the discount is set at pick 18, so about 200 points for any bids after 18 so if he's bid in at like 55 or later he'll be 0 points anyway.

If that is the case, then it seems a bit broken. Surely it applies to the first pick usable by Hawthorn.

If you can land 2 best 22 players every year youre doing ok, thats what we've achieved with JOM and Mitchell.
It could be a risk worth taking, although the price for O'Meara was exceedingly steep. He'll be under huge pressure to perform.

In interesting point to note. Apparently, Carlton needed a lot of bottom of the table picks to enable some draft day maneuvers they have planned. The chicken feed was more important than the chicken to them. It's always important to remember that any individual draft pick is virtually worthless. It all depends on what you want to do with that pick that gives it value. The draft calculator is irrelevant to a trade strategy. It's only useful when you have no plan for your picks. I bet GCS were hitting the calculator refresh button like a hen pecking at seeds.
