Has anyone actually watched Hill play?
The guy loves a late goal, taking him to a 1-goal, 3 possession, 1-2 tackle type of game.

Im firmly in the boat of saying we need at least 2 more small forwards on the list, so I’m happy to try anyone that fits the criteria…but I won’t be getting overly excited over Hill

My thoughts too.

I'm trying to recall whether I've seen him do anything worth interest or whether all I've heard is Dermie talking him up.

He's exactly the type of player I'd expect Dodoro to pursue. Very flashy with little apparent substance to his game.

He’s still very raw but he’s show glimpses of being special. Just a matter of extracting the best out of him. His goal in the semi was wow factor.

Seems wasteful to blow future picks on Hill when we have the Davey twins coming through next year.

Well he's 21 years 8 months right now - so by the time we draft the Davey twins he'd be 23 at the start of the 2023 season when they would be eligible to play and they'd only be 18. So i guess it depends do we think we can get away without a small forward to bridge the gap between now and when the Davey boys get drafted and develop to a stage where they can impact at AFL level?

Personally I'd like a ready to go small forward as I think we need one. Tippa and Smith are nearing the end though I'm backing Tippa to bounce back and get a few more years at a high level out of himself.
Whether Hill is the best option is up for others to decide and honestly I don't know enough about him other than he's really quick.

It’s higher than that considering he’s a decent draft pick and in contract. Glorious the old snake baker on this forum getting shut down on twitter by a journo concerning the circumstance.
No doubt GWS want more than 40 and have upper hand in any negotiations due to Hill being contracted. Just dont think he's worth that to us at this stage.

There are other ways to get small forwards though, every year there are guys who come out of the state leagues that would fit the bill for a couple of years. Haven't really looked at what's on the market this year but would he surprised if there's actually nothing.
Hill simply isn't worth the price GWS would ask

One of our picks in the 50s is probably fair. He’s a former second round pick who hasn’t set the world on fire since then, players like that shouldn’t cost much.

I think people are confusing the commentators going off their nut when he gets the ball with actual impact on games.

Agree. BT loves him. He's no worse than Rosas, but he's the expensive version.

Umm Dodoro has never "Dodoro'd him.
We payed top dollar for Sheil and Smith. Caldwell is injured a lot so we don't know how that will look.
McCartney wasnt in charge of GWS when we traded for Smith....
That year he traded Stringer to us for two second rounders.

I’m ok bringing in more indigenous players if the price is right.
Yeah, this comment just doesn't quite hit the mark mate. I'd like to think it wasn't tounge in cheek but let's not tokenize indigenous people/players (or anyone) just to make your club look good. It's comments like these that setback the work that has been done. Especially considering Essendon has been at the forefront of this!

Don't want to upset you, rather put you in check to just do better and think before you post a comment like this!

Fair call.

It wasn’t about tokenism, it was about having relatable players for the only two indigenous Australians on our list. Not suggesting what I said was any less insensitive but wanted to clarify.

Again I sincerely apologise.

Who is Bobby Hill and should I be excited like that time I found $200 in my jean pocket that I later used to assist me paying off a large gambling debt?

Really not sure why there is so much negativity around Hill tbh.

He's a ready replacement and upgrade on Mosi and fill's a need we have.

He played almost every game for GWS last year, except when he had to go home to support his family during Covid, and his brilliant goal in the final almost gave GWS the spark they needed.

Besides his flashes of brilliance, he also averaged nearly 3 tackles a game showing he works reasonably hard off the ball.

Having Hill and Tippa running around our forward line is sure to cause opposition teams a headache.
