Just putting this out there;
Should 2022 not deliver answers in terms of our forward line, Logan McDonald's contract expires at the end of 2022. Also, WB now have JUH and Sam Darcy. Naughton's contract expires at the end of next year.

Probably more likely to cut their losses with JUH than the other 2. And cant imagine its overly likely either.

Mcdonald i like the sound of...but will be pricey.

Sydney will make McDonald a very important signing, highly doubt they let him go

Forward guys id like to keep an eye on that shouldnt cost much

Joel Amartey - Liked what insaw late last year they now have Ladhams, Buddy, Reid, L.Mcdonald and H.Mclean plus the McCartina x2 can play forward. Obviously Buddy and Reid dont have much time left

Bailey Laurie - One for the VFL watchers when we play melbournes VFL side. Obviously an almost impossible side to break into. If it wasnt for injury last year i believe he wouldve played round 1. Fairly well rated not sure how hes returned from injury. Would cost nothing and could be a small forward option. Plays a bit higher

Suspect McDonald either goes back to WA or stays with Sydney, limited reason for him to come to VIC.

He's from WA, West Coast have 2 x KPF's at the end of their careers and can offer as much as anyone I'd guess.

Plus, Buddy's edging closer to retirement so McDonald would be seen as his successor.

Going to go out on a limb here but I am predicting we will not be hunting for a KPF by the end of the season.
possibly looking at a project if one is around
Wright + Jones + Francis + Baldwin is nice and tall.
None are elite, but if they can clunk a few marks and kick a goal or two each a game, will serve us well.

Carlton had the Coleman medallist last year, and look at how that worked for them.

The two grand finalists by the end of round 23?
Melb: Fritsch (47), Pickett (35), McDonald (30)
WBD: Naughton (48), Bruce (40), Bont (26)

We don't necessarily need to go hunting for an out and out, 60+ goal a year gun key forward, when the last few years show a smattering of guys is fare more sustainable.

If we can get for example the below (of which I don't think is entirely unrealistic), that makes us less predictable and more sustainable as an outfit:
45: Stringer
35: Jones
30: Wright
20-25 from a couple of: Francis, Snelling, Walla (when he returns), Smith or Perkins as genuine forwards
Then 15-20 from the rest

Ben Brown did kick 19 goals in the last 8 games of the year

A full year and thats equating to 50+

Dees had Ben Brown playing in the latter part of the season though. It worked well because he wasn't a focus (unlike at the Roos) but the talent was still there.

I agree that teams overall seem to work better when you don't have a single target but the overall level of talent in the Dees and Dogs forward lines is quite a bit higher than ours.

We have a little upside in Jones and Reid if he gets on the park.

Francis and Wright are what they are. Snelling too - although I'm a fan.

Baldwin is still a couple of years away.

Wanganeen probably won't have the tank to play too many games.

Stringer probably won't play better but with our stronger midfield he should strengthen the forward line by being there more often.

Harry Jones to kick 50 goals?

He currently looks like a much better prospect than JUH.

If he was taken at 1 I doubt our forwardline would be viewed as negatively as it is.

I disagree with Ant, I think we'll target one with our first pick.

I can't remember if I posted this or not but I'd shape for an all out assault on this draft.

R1 and R2 2023 up for grabs to take a tall and then have enough to ensure Dave x 2 and Munkara. If it's not needed the list profile is all about the next 5 years and kids taken this year will be 12 months ahead of 2023.

Should say I meant a big fish FA KPF. We could very well take a KPF in the draft if there is one in the mix given we will have a few F/S options that rae not KP :thumbsu:

Agreed !

I actually like the idea that Baldwin could potentially play that Hooker role of drawing the #1 defender being the main target yet the other guys moire likely kicking more goals. Would allow Wright to be the #2 guy even #3 if Jones becomes a bigger threat inside F50.
