With these salary dumps for draft capital you should have to take the original contract on your books for the length of the deal. Geelong getting away Scott free by smoothing it out to 450-500 a year.
I agree with this. Even if they spread it, the original 1.7 or what ever it was should count against for 2 years. Then go back to 400-500k the last 2 years. Especially if you’re getting such a good pick back

Is Dunkley even on Essendon's radar anymore?
Thought I read somewhere that Brad Scott wants to go to the draft rather than bring in mature players.

If the impossible happened and Dunkley goes to the PSD, does that mean we use our pick 4 on him?

Scott expects we'll go to the draft and expects that we'll probably have the youngest list in the comp next year, depending on how the trade period goes.

The only trades he's actually ruled out are short-term stop-gaps, which means not trying to fill the key forward role with a 29 year old depth player, or similar.

Definitely use pick 4 in the PSD on him. National draft is a totally different story, I’m certain we wouldn’t use pick 4 on him there.

pick 4 in PSD, not ND
He'd need to slide past North, WCE and GWS in a draft of speculatives.

Would be the luckiest break we've had since Freo gifted us Lloyd and Lucas.

I reckon it’s unlikely he gets to the PSD. And even then, it’s hard to see norf not taking him.

Caleb Poulter anyone??
He looked alright in 2021.
193cm midfielder
Pies recruiters have a pretty good eye for talent

I figured Poulter would go to the Crows in a straight swap for Frampton but I’d be sniffing.

A dynamic, athletic outside runner, could certainly use more of them

He will be better than whoever we take at pick 60ish.
2 years in the system, was seen as top 25 in his draft year.

Crows said they didn’t want him and he doesn’t have a contract offer from the pies yet.

All you can do is hoard talent regardless of fit in this situation, and he certainly has talent.

One to keep an eye on as well as the higher profile Bytel, Setterfield and the like, I like a good dumpster dive.

Geelong offering 38 for Henry 😂
And we get called tough negotiators
I am hoping the Geelong stuff comes to a head and they can't get a deal over the line
38 for Henry
36-38 for Bowes and 7
Assume 18 & F1 for Bruhn and GWS 2nd (enabling F2 trade for Bowes)

the Bowes deal doesn't sit right with me.
AFL has always pushed equitable trading so clubs don't scratch each others backs. This makes a mockery of that.

I’m guessing the offer for Henry stems from the Bowes deal. Wouldn’t surprise if GCS said their F2 will be too far back so they want F1.

If the cats can’t offer a first rounder for Henry, I can see the pies saying ‘**** it, to the PSD with you’. That’d make Dunkleys path to us a lot smoother 🤣

Dunkley has more chance of staying with Bulldogs than coming to us. If he thinks the Bulldogs are dysfunctional then coming to play with us would be a real eye opener.

Media is already writing articles in support of Geelong on that front. The AFL will support it and tell clubs to pull their heads in and do better.

Isn't Dunkley's issue with some other personalities in the playing group?
I don't think he comes to us, but I also don't think it's our players who woukd present a problem.

I thought he said that they weren't all pulling in the same direction as a team? In which case, unless Scott can work some major magic, you'd have to say it'd be more frustrating for him to play for us.
