I found the team list for the West Coast team:

WEST COAST’S BEST 22*

B: Sharrod Wellingham, Eric Mackenzie, Shannon Hurn,

HB: Brad Sheppard, Jeremy McGovern, Will Schofield

C: Elliot Yeo, Matt Priddis, Chris Masten**

HF: Lewis Jetta, Jack Darling, Jamie Cripps,

F: Marc LeCras, Josh Kennedy, Josh Hill

FOLL: Nic Naitanui, Luke Shuey, Andrew Gaff

I/C: Dom Sheed, Scott Lycett, Liam Duggan, Jack Redden

EMERGENCY: Sam Butler, Xavier Ellis, Mitchell Brown

*had to be done

**wouldn't make a legit female best 22.

If this comp lasts I wonder if the father/son rule will be expanded. If one of our female players has a son would they be eligible to play for the men's side under a mother/son rule. They could just change the definition to parent/child.

If they pair off the players from the girls team with the players from the mens team then that might not be an issue

But I get what you're saying - doubt the AFL would allow it given not every team has a womens team (yet)

It will be such a bad idea to bring in a full 18 women's team for an AFLW competition. Even 8 is possibly too many in my eyes.

The reason the Demons V Bulldogs game was so competitive / skilled was because they took the best players in the country and split them into 2 teams. There just isn't the depth for 18 teams yet. The academies that have started across most states will be great but it will be at least 10 years before there can be enough talent to warrant an 18 team comp.

The worst thing that could happen for the women's side of the sport at the moment would be to go too big too soon and end up with poorly skilled / unfit players being involved as the "elite". I really hope they start small and build it properly so that it can be a commercially viable competition.

I don't find them very attractive

That would give Collingwood a pretty unfair advantage though.

The preview of the game has one of our defenders being described as "A tough-as-steak defender".

Obviously a typo but maybe not? Maybe she is as tough as steak. Rubbish steak cooked with a blowtorch by some sadistic chef who hates meat, hates cooking and hates you.

Eat that, you ****s.

You haven't seen how my Dad does a BBQ. Our leftover steaks are used to replace broken roof tiles.
