They start poorly so they don't want to waste the wind. It also helps with their perceived strength of finishing well. It has worked well until today and our worst quarter was the second, where we actually had the breeze
That second quarter was bizarre decision making, had the breeze but kept trying to chip short around the boundary and ended up kicking about 4 ootf to give the ball back to the crows instead of just going long and trying to get out the back.

I think we had more inside 50's in the first quarter than we did for the rest of the match - like 60% first quarter, 40% in the remaining 3 quarters.

:arrowup:This stat I gave has to be crap. I was basing in on what I thought I heard one of the commentators say, either TV or radio, that we had 15 inside 50's in the first quarter, and seeing we ended up with 26.

The West article says it was 13-6 inside 50's to Adelaide. We did take 3 marks inside 50m in the first quarter though and we did get it past centre a lot.

Having watched it again, Adelaide score was 1:1 from those 13 entries, and they barely had another shot on goal. There was one set shot by Gould from about 25m out that was kicked into the Fremantle player on the mark.

Do agree with the gist of that article in the West Australian on the bottom half of the page where it talks about inches becoming yards, becoming miles. While 6 goals seems like a huge margin in AFLW, to get better by a 9-10 points each quarter across a game, it's a matter of convert one goal when you've got the chance and preventing one of theirs.

So next year?

Think we keep Kikoak and GBW. So have to find two spots and need at least one in the draft.

I think Cregg, maybe Mulder? Stribley? Tough to prove you should stay when you never get to play

Suspect Antonio may retire ?

Trades? Will Miller ( with Runnels) ask for a trade after captaincy crap?

I'm still in denial about Gemma Houghton.
she ws one my favoruites . i gues she had her reasons for leaving us to go back to SA , jsut wish our club didnt lose so many good players both mens and ladies teams for what is perosnal reasons such as family etc not sure we can do naything to change that. jsut wish it didnt happen

We got absolute shafted with expansion clubs. Steph Cain was a huge loss

Gemma's reasons where very personal, and nothing to do with the Club. Their people, there's always going to be unavoidable reasons.

Did read an interesting post about AFLW having to deal with players who break up and the list management challenges.

Yes AFLW is more prone I guess to relationship breakups affecting players going or leaving . I guess some one like Carey has caused issues before but as you not normally in a relrionship with another team mate I just glad the Antonio’s stayed married . Wouldn’t like to have lost one of them early

Scuttlebutt from back in the day was that the Australian Rugby Union was so sick of dealing with this sort of thing that they didn’t have a women’s national side for years and effectively gave up on the women’s game… meaning that rugby, which was the first contact sport available for women and thriving for years, is now a distant third among women’s contact sports.

I was a woman playing rugby and Aussie rules at the time; sources seemed reliable but nobody ever reported on women’s sports so who knows 🤷‍♀️
