He's coming. TBH I can't say that I'm that thrilled as I'm a bit iffy on trading for a 30yo player who's been injured all year (unless we get him cheap) when we've let a few of our own go,
But...Bloody Hell what a good player he's been

Can't believe Richmond are trading him. I know they've overrated their list and need picks but it would have to be hard for Tiges fans.
It'd feel about the same as if we'd traded Jimmy a few years ago IMO.

I can believe it. He is nearly 30 yet has currency and they need to make hard decisions on their list. I very much want Deledio he is exactly what we need with the loss of Enright and probably Lonergan and the likely phasing out of Mackie and Bartel next year.

Still has speed and run and is damaging with the footy and generally an impact player.

Was elite still last year, but injuries have hurt him this year.

Is nearing 30, injury problems, Richmond and Geelong will come to an agreement, don't think we will pay overs, the situation is there for all to see. Would be very different if he was coming off a stellar season again and was AA.

Jimmy i think will retire, a more than appropriate replacement for 2-3 years, and Lids could pull on the no.3, I'd be ok with that.

Tiger fan in peace here guys, with Motlop not coming here I personally (along with other Tiger fans) would like to try and bring in Nakia Cockatoo if Deledio was to leave the club. How would you Geelong supporters feel if we targeted Nakia?

Duck ;)

Sounds like it will need a third party suitor for Motlop to get it done which might make it tough.

Not in a million years.

You can target Nakia all you like, but what would it take for us to trade him? Deledio and pick 6. Now, you're probably saying "That's laughable", which is both fair and an accurate description of your chances of getting Nakia.

The only people who love him more than the Geelong coaches are the Geelong fans. He's our poster boy.

Anyway, all the best.

Give us your view on Deledio - you would obviously watch him every week - have the injuries slowed him down the last couple of years

Which year was it ( this year or the one before ) where Deledio Maric and i think Rance all missed about the the 1st 5 games of the season out injured

He is actually very durable! And the talent is still there, AA selection last year!

Few calf and Achilles injuries last season early on and missed a few towards the end, but don't forget we wrapped him in cotton wool because our season was well and truly buried! He even came out and publicly stated this

play him on a forward flank and you'll have a guy that will hit blokes on the tit lace out every time and still kick 30 odd himself, or run him off a half back line and you'll have a guy not only breaking lines but smashing them!

Guy is a jet and has at minimum 4 years to go!

Anyway good luck in your hunt for him! All we ask for is to be fairly compensated! and with Geelong's no nonsense trading I'm sure we will be!

Not sure how I feel about this. I don't want to become a club that plays money ball and swaps out 30 year olds for 30 year olds year in, year out. Deledio is a good player who has had injury problems, he has little to no finals experience on account of being a career Tiger and will be in the autumn years of his career if he pulls on the hoops. Just makes me feel uneasy. If he can have a relatively injury free year, play 20 games and earn a premiership medal then I will be ok with it of course, but I really hope next year we start going to the draft seriously again.

The Dogs won their premiership in the draft and not at the trade table (Matthew Boyd aside) and that would feel infinitely more satisfying as a supporter. I can't help but feel like winning it with a money-ball type team would not have the same feeling.

They really are ridiks. They really have no idea - and to be honest that's understandable. They don't know what it means to be a successful side and how successful sides trade.

To us, Hawks and/or Swans a player like lids is top 10 maybe top 5. He's behind, Hawkins, Selwood, Taylor, Dangerfield for a start. But to them he's top 2, top 3. Probably the best many of them have ever seen play for their club in their life-time.

At day's end, they need to realise he's 30 and out of contract in a year. He'll walk on not amazing money, at an advanced age, and given the paucity of accolades he's been able to achieve at that s**tstain of a club they scrape a 2nd/3rd rounder for him... and have a year's less development in a young player.

This is the second year in a row we've had to continually tell opposition supporters that Nakia Cockatoo won't be traded under any circumstances yet his name keeps getting mentioned.

I feel any subsequent trade for Deledio will involve a third club.

He would have to take a significant pay cut though. I can't imagine that with the 4 trades last year of danger, s.selwood, smith and Henderson that we would have much room for his current $800,000 a year (that's what the media are reporting), nor is he worth that.

I'm not so sure.
Last week he said he wanted to stay at richmond and be a one club player. This week he now says is "open " to a move. Once the seed has been planted it can take root pretty quickly. Our best hope lies with Deledio forming a view that he definitely wants to come. Think thats what will be the determining factor

His parents and brother live in Torquay so there's every chance he'll follow suit.
