I think the club has been developing his game in the NEAFL with him playing forward and inside mid at some stages of both seasons he has had. I also think the club has been improving his fitness after having has 2 ACLs as a junior and i also think this is a reason the club has been very cautious with him and developing him slowly. Although saying that he would need to see some game time in the seniors in the back half of the season or I can see a trade happening, in terms of value I would think around a early second would get it done

ACL .... off to the Hawks for sure.

Not sure on where you got the news from but he finished the NEAFL game on the ground and walked of shaking the oppositions hands with no problem but happy for you to provide the link to any reliable source listing the injury

I can only think he is talking about the injuries suffered as a junior. Otherwise you would think it would be well reported?

Nah no injury mate.
Just another player with an injury history that will be jumped on by Hawks ppl if he is available.
You will se the Burgoyne, Jaeger, Scully line of assisting players with injury or old injury.
Bonar was one I had penciled for the hawks to pick up in his draft year before he climbed into calculations to be drafted where he was.
If he is up for grabs I hope there is a good deal for both teams.

Troll account, same **** posted every year.
Are you referring to me as a troll?
If so I do have to laugh.
A hawk supporter yes but 8 years in NSW has me supporting the Giants as a second team.
I go to Giants games with the family, I cheer on the Giants against the Swans, Hopper is my favourite player, Toby Green is my sons.
I’m always following & commenting because it’s of interest to me.
I don’t come here banging on about Cogs or Whitfield even when there are media connections.
I wanted to trade for Patton last year & my interest in Bonar goes back to his draft year with a Fogarty, Bonar & Colman-Jones my targets by trading up in the draft that it now looks like Hawthorn may finally do this season.
I do apologise if I have miss read this but if I haven’t then I’m sure you will appreciate it when I say EAD : )

Hahahaha Hahahaha (Laugh).

The couple of games I've watched needs to continue to improve his inter-game consistency.
Looks like he will break the game apart with excellent stoppage work one quarter, doesn't touch it the next.

Anyone heard anything further about him returning to Melbourne this off season? Would make sense given GWS will need to clear a heap of salary before next year.

We think he may be gone because others have passed him.

But we are already clearing plenty of room so it's not a necessity to trade him out.

I could see him going.

But if anyone thinks they aren't paying overs to break him free of the contract they are being silly.

We are good at the trade table to our players as last year showed but we won't be rolled when it's in our favour.
What's his path to seniors? Not playing much this year and Ward and Coniglio are coming back into the midfield. Hately preferred as a mid, Hill playing ahead of him as a forward. Given the need for your salary dump last year why would he want to stay and alternatively why keep him?

Ricky Nixon said he's keen on the Pies.

Nixon's strike rate with these sorts of things is rubbish though.

Good luck.

He’s on a standard GWS draftee extension of $300k+ apparently.

The whole point is a salary dump and given the Pies needing to offload Elliott by the looks of things and the Grundy/De Goey contract situations I can’t see them too interested.

Get rid of a 2nd year player who’s played 6 game to clear salary cap space...wut?

They extended his contract as soon as he was drafted, which GWS do to their top picks, they usually bump their draft contracts to $300k+ deals.

They did it with the likes of Ahern, Kennedy etc that they've had to get rid of in the past.

It seems to keep the kids happy in comparison to GC, but in some instances where they are behind in the pecking order they need to salary dump the player to keep the system going, especially if they are coming up to some big contract negotiations (Jeremy Cameron & Lachie Whitfield)

Yeh right, cheers had no idea I thought everyone was just on a base salary for the first 2 years.
Depending on trade cost but I’d like saints to have a crack.

Wouldn’t cost a heap in terms of picks.

At $300k trading him for a draftee only would save maybe $150k. That's not gonna do much for salary cap space. Unless he gets us a decent pick this doesn't make sense. Was drafted off the back of a knee reco and was expected to take a bit longer.
