As others have stated, if the main reason was to be closer to his father, he would have considered the suns- his father lives on the Gold Coast, not in Brisbane.
My understanding is he lives between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. its not a long drive, many of oour players have lived down there and played for us.

It won't send that message lmao. How on earth would it do so? All it does is emphasize the contempt your coach and your club has for its players and it will make the AFL incredibly displeased as you'll be throwing away a chance at further rebuilding. It's probably the worst move you could make.
I disagree. We have lost too many young players and need to send a message.

You had no sympathy for a player wanting to be with an unwell parent.
Bullshit. Collingwood was willing to bend over backwards to accommodate him with extra time off to see his Dad. Then ended up trading him when he refused those concessions.

Not sure why you're here trolling, but it's lions supporters like you that I'm going to enjoy watching cry the most when Aisho ends up at Collingwood.

But I just outlined the message you're sending... It's a massively hostile one to all players and future players of AFL. How does it actually help you? It won't stop people leaving that's for sure.. We were in a similar position last year with Beams where we were being adamant about holding him to the final year of his contract, thing is though, we didn't, and we're all happier because of it. Choosing to trade him has been a massive boon to our club.

I'm not trolling. Trying to have a discussion about this but maybe your not capable of that.

The only message it sends is that your club is in chaos and poorly run by massive sooks.

Everyone knew prior to draft that Aish would leave Brisbane YET you guys picked him anyway. How ruddy dumb can they get.
No they didn't.That is a crazy comment

So you think we should just acccept dud deals like we did 2 years ago?

time the club got its act together, then players wont leave. good place to be at = no go home factor

If by discussion you mean try to imply Collingwood are heartless campaigners who won't do what's best for their players and try to rip everyone off at the trade table, yeah it's a discussion.

It's time for you to piss off back to your own board.

I have no doubt they would argue that but they want to vindicate their decision. I don't think it helped them get a better price. They didn't have the whip hand with Stevens so needed to accept they would get a little unders. Trading 101.

It didn't hurt them greatly in the end but the way it was related to their flag by some at the time was just a bit of PA propaganda.

Further to your post, it is very tiresome to see some posters continually stretch the truth to take a hit at the club.

The truth of the matter is that Stevens would have cost us Didak. That's who they asked for or no deal. Who gives a shite what happened after that catastrophe was prevented. I know whose career I would have preferred- hint he became a two time AA and premiership player with the club. If taking a stance helped Port 'win a flag' then keeping Didak helped us win one.

Cue the knuckleheads slagging the post off by declaring their right to bag the club.

In the end we may be better of if Aish nominates for the draft. We may end up getting him for a mid 20s pick like Ball. It will be a tense wait but the outcome would be sweet.

Wow. That would be disgraceful if true.

Yeah agree that PSD outcome would be really poor result for us. In effect Lions get Ox for Aish. The Blues pick up a young gun for nothing and we get zilch for losing Oxley.

As long as the Lions aren't unrealistic with their trade requirements I still think this gets done. Lions fans seemed willing to take Hawks first (18) for him so if we offer a pick between 15-20 then it will be hard to justify to the AFL mediator why that is not acceptable for a 32 game 19yo coming off a poor year.

Obviously you haven't seen some of the suff your supporters have written on our board.

Why do you think he went from being a top 3 pick to being taken at 7?

Every club before the Lions (aside from Collingwood, who were tossing up between him and Berg) regarded him as a flight risk.

There was strong word at the time that he would want out after 2 years at draft time but your stupid arse recruiters ignored the signs. Nobody to blame but themselves.

I have, and don't condone trolling. Frankly I don't give a shit about the Lions board though, just because some randoms have gone to your board to stir up shit doesn't automatically give you the right to do it here.

I highly doubt you guys will put up anything decent anyway. You guys and Essendon and known for being difficutl to trade with.

Actually I'm quite sure we're one of the more easily traded with clubs in the comp. West Coast gifted us a fairly nice pick upgrade in 2013 so we must be doing something right.
Essendon on the other hand are far less well intentioned on the trade table as evidenced by their stance on Ryder last year. Two first round picks for him is rich to begin with but factor in the ongoing WADA/ASADA issues attached to him and that estimate of his value looks like a joke. A first rounder for melksham this year..? They're deluded.

Yeah it does bro.

Tit for tat, eye for an eye. All that sort of stuff.
