So Essendon have a board meeting yesterday and arse their president.

Speculation becomes rife that they are axing their coach.

Another board meeting today and they still don’t axe their coach.

Now if they do actually want to axe their coach they will need at least another board meeting.

That would be 3 board meetings in a very short time frame.

If that was us or the dogs or saints the media would go f***ing mental about our club being a mess and in absolute crisis.

We may be down right now but I am pretty confident that Sonja has a full grasp of where we are and where we are going.
They had one Sunday night as well. Already 3 in 3 days.

Essendon are a bigger basket case than we are, so I actually don't feel bad if Clarko goes there and fixes them.

No finals win in 18 years, drugged their players etc trains in Tulla, no priority picks coming, plus they don't have LDU.
I'd be happy if he went there and ****ed them up worse. That would be the ultimate power move from a Hawthorn legend.

The Rutten situation is becoming really ugly. Clarkson needs to put the poor prick out of his misery.

Don't like us being even vaguely associated with this level of Essendon unprofessional bullshit.

One of the fox footy shows last night I thought said they had an "emergency" meeting Sunday as well I think so they are racking them up - though i guess only the 1st one was an emergency the rest were just normal...........

What an absolutely "marvelous" club is *essendon. Three Board meetings over about 5 days to sack Ben Rutten and unless something has changed today, they have still not done the deed.

Poor b****** is a dead man walking and expected to hang on there and do his job, while they go about their business of trying to hire Clarkson. That might take weeks and if/when Clarkson does agree, then they will ruthlessly knife Rutten, with absolutely no compunction whatsoever.

Would any other club stoop to lower levels than this? No, no, no.

Only *essendon is capable of plummeting to such morally bankrupt levels as this.

*they should have been wound up back at the time of the doping scandal and Tasmania given their licence then.

They definitely had a board meeting on Sunday pre-game. That’s where Brasher tendered his resignation.

So that’s 3 in 3 days.

I'm still a little bit amazed they didn't have their licence suspended by WADA.

If "North have definitely been speaking to his manager since around that time", then why haven't we signed him up in the last 3 months? Noble has been gone for a month, why hasn't Clarko signed in that time?? Has the club not done a good enough job of being able to sell the role to him?

Perhaps it's because he was advised by Essendon when they were speaking with him back in May, to not make any decisions on his next coaching role until the end of the year, as they may have a job for him at that time. Well what do you know, it's now the end of year, the Bombers are looking for a new coach, and Clarko hasn't signed with any one else yet.

It's a theory that should not be dismissed.
The much more likely theory is that Hawthorn have a deed of settlement with Clarkson that prevents him taking a role with another club during the 2022 season - Jeff Kennett is a d!ckhead, but he's not a dill, and Hawthorn aren't going to allow Clarkson to sign on for someone else while he is taking Hawthorn's money (which we know is being paid in instalments). The season ends for North this weekend, and that's when Clarkson can sign and still satisfy the requirements of any settlement deed with Hawthorn.

So Tim Watson on 7news just now the voice of reason. They led with Bombers in turmoil and chasing the signature of Clarkson. Then proceeded to show Rutten and confirm he was to coach this week. Tim then stated that there was still a strong past player pull from North which was completely the opposite of the hysterical news report.

Ok, first a statement from me:
Speaking of grunge, I picked up Alice in Chains ‘Rainer Fog’ today. Holy moley it’s good. Then I looked at the Pitchfork review and it was a very average review.
I imagine Pitchfork reviewers to be slightly thinner versions of Comic book guy, with most of the arrogance and perhaps even slightly more offensive body odour. Their faux intelligence can get fauked.

And a question.
For $75, would you sit directly beneath Caro as she fervently said “sources” three times?
I wouldn’t; raise it to $125 and we’ll talk.

Play on.

considering clarkson is still being paid by hawthorn i highly doubt an announcement can be made until the end of the season.

i suspect this is all the media milking the story for all it's worth. big club board spill, clarkson to north announcement hasn't been made, why not get a few thousand clicks from the essendon nuffies? it's easy stories for the whole week; monday: essendon board spill, tuesday: story about north losing big fish, wednesday: clarkson has met with essendon, announcement in the coming days, thursday: understood north has up the offer and gone all in!, friday: clarkson leaning towards north, weekend: run with whatever story suits depending on foot results, Monday: north announces clarko.

the media can go from "he's definitely going to north" to "definitely going to essendon" to "definitely going to north" and when it's announced he's going to north (which was probably sown up last week) the media look like they were in the know the whole time when it was all just BS to get clicks.

How and why are they allowing Ben Rutten to go through this? I was certain they'd do him a favour and sack him today. Instead this farce continues. If * were at all confident they had Clarkson, then you'd hope they'd have the grace to exit the incumbent with some class.

The longer this goes on, the more confident I get that Clarkson goes to North.

The other thing that bemused me today was someone saying that Hinkley was a better fit for North than Clarkson. Admittedly, it was someone who used to play for Port, and wakes every day thankful that the word 'spazztic' is no longer PC. But how is someone who has coached no premierships or Grand Finals in 10 years, hated by his current supporter base and whose only connection with North Melbourne is that he stopped at the red light at Curzon and Queensberry once a better fit than a 4 time premiership coach who played nearly 100 games for the club.
