North Melbourne has parted ways with football boss Dan McPherson only a year after poaching him from Melbourne as the club makes space for Alastair Clarkson’s leuitenant Todd Viney.

McPherson spent only a single season at the Roos and while he was highly rated the season was largely disastrous as the club sacked David Noble and won the wooden spoon.

Clarkson and Viney will come with a lofty price tag of well over $1.5 million combined as the club tries to reset itself for an ongoing period of success.

St Kilda’s David Rath and Carlton fitness boss Andrew Russell are long-time confidantes but will remain at their clubs.

McPheesin had joined Melbourne in 2014 as an assistant coach and then moved into football operations.

Assistant coaches Heath Younie and Anthony Rocca have also moved on from the club

Never any guarantees of course but we have had 2 inexperienced coaches , and often rumours of players refusing in some cases to adhere to rules ie Polec with Shaw and perhaps Thomas with Noble both rumours. I don’t think they would try it with Al and if they did they would be pretty game.
Our last 6 coaches were inexperienced.
For some reason we like to give the new bloke a go.
This should be very different to what we are used to as north supporters.

Hires with the cost in mind? Too hard to attract the cream?

We’ve clearly decided to start opening the purse strings. Unfortunate for blokes losing their jobs, but as long as your clean with it. Clarko has used the term “brutal” a few times already.

Well pagan worked out well as an inexperienced coach.
The Last north coach not to go plural.

Younie and Rocca both gone is a relief. Rocca's recruitment always baffled me and the forward line under Younie was a ****ing mess and a half. Mcpherson potentially stiff, but then again maybe not. Sonya did say the report said there were good people working there but bad communication, and I would have thought GM of football was the person that would/should have been on top of making sure things ran smoothly.

Fine with Rawlings "surviving". He's one of ours and has already shown a willingness to reduce the scope of his role and hand off some responsibility, so I would expect that if he received sharp feedback or a further change in his role he would take it on the chin.

Boo this man. Love a caramel milkshake.
So good. Every time I cross paths with a Wendy's I'll grab a caramel thickshake.

Caramel doesn't let you down like other flavours. Chocolate can be hit and miss - taste too fake at times. Vanilla can get a little too fancy because they'll go with 'Vanilla bean'. My only worry is the need to replace it with 'salted caramel'.

Next time I rock up to a training session I might bring a second for Clarko.
