They arent. Probably won 8-10 (at best) games of thirds footy for the decade. The seniors have only been successful due to a chequebook. In no way do i mean any disrespect to the club but it is one of the clubs that could fall over or be forced to merge due to a lack of number sometime in the near future.

Is Toc and Barooga murray league?? I watched them play 2nd semi a few weeks back, both handy sides but no where near the West Gippy league. My mate who plays for barooga said the same, its a different style of footy buy he thinks about the same as EDFL.

Woni will do well, they have got cash to spend so they will be ok. There juniors would do OK too if they kept everyone they had at the moment. Juniors ladders almost always compare to town populations in most leagues so they should be fine.

Yes you are correct it is the murray league and not a bad comp overall, Barooga is usually one of the strong sides and spends a few dollars. Deniliquin is also usally one of the strong clubs also.

agree but credit where credit is due, the creekers produced some brilliant home grown talent in the 80's and early/mid 90's which lead them to all those premierships at the beginning of this decade, they definitely paid big but the stars eg mcgannon standfields livingstones hoskins symmons smith etc were all creekers through and through

No doubting that, they had some great players, but the 80s was 20-30 years ago now and the competition has changed drastically. Fish Creek havent played in finals in any grade since 2005, possibly 2004.

l think the big winners will be inverloch & Dalyston, with the demise of Wonthaggi, pending court action again ? will it ever end.

Yeah you would have to think the teams around Wonthaggi will pick up players. I think it will make a very even comp. Any names that are not going to stay with Wonthaggi?

who are the players moving in and out of the alberton league for 2010? what teams are going to be stronger and what teams will struggle?

Could anyone tell me if Craig Lush (Tall sauce headed ruckman with a huge work rate) will be making a come back for Toora this year. Think he had a year of with an ankle op.

Well done to Nathan Vardy on being drafted to Geelong he joins the long list of Alberton kids off to the big time

Can anyone confirm that if Anthony Pavey has been appointed coach of Woodside? Also heard that whatever club he has been appointed to that he has taken 4-6 Yarragon players?? Can anyone confirm/refute this?

Yes anthony banik told me, that pavey is coaching woodside they play in the NGFNL...
wouldnt think the devon people would be too happy bout that as they would regard pavey as one of their own. anyway good on him. what are the movements in alberton, heard that tarwin, toora and yarram all are still without a coach.

I don't think anyone wants to coach Toora. That club's going backwards if you ask me and it's going to be a long time before they are competitive in Alberton again. Their juniors aren't much either.

Whats happening at Toora? Thought they had plenty of blokes on the field last year?

I think it would be more of merger like alot of Alberton teams have in the early days. I know Stoney Creek won the flag but had a fair few imports in there team. So i think a Fish Creek and Stoney Creek merger down the track would make sense and they would be called the Stonefish Creekers

Pretty sure Tarwin are speaking with Jamie Cann, ex VFL player and Melbourne rookie regarding coaching them. He played in the Ellinbank League the past few years kicking 5 goals in premiership this year with Nilma Darnum. Playing coach.

yeah fair call mercs, like the name. i dont think there will ever be a merger between them 2 clubs, if fish creek were to merge it would be with tarwin, but i dont think any of those clubs will merge in the near future, the best chances of mergers would be yarram and devon which will happen in the near future, and possibly toora and foster down the track.

hi all could be moving down that way soon and looking for a club. the old man is from down there and played 15 odd yrs at toora in the 60/70s. what are they like can anyone fill me in? thanks

No longer down that way but try to keep in touch with the boys. Good club, great people.

Not sure about the side, believe they will be looking for a new coach this year and that a number of (non local) players will not be returning, however, as i said, no longer in the area so might be wrong.

The Toora boys that will stay are all good blokes and we will see what a new coach will bring to the club.

I think Toora won a flag in the late 70's, did your old man play in that?

If you end up down there make sure you have a beer with Crash.
