How have KB been travelling lately? Having played for them a few years back would be interested if someone could fill me in. They were a great club to play for.

Noticed they still havent played finals since joining the Alberton league even though they had teams that probably should have, just lacked depth and a bit of consistency.

Any chance of them dropping down a league to Ellinbank where they would be more competitive or are there too many teams there already?

You serious ********?

Ringofcourage you must be new to this site otherwise you would be aware that the Ellinbank is a stronger comp than the Alberton LOL.

I understand there is push for KB, PI, Wonthaggi, Tarwin, IK, Dayston & Korumburra to form a new Sth Gippsland league and have Lang Lang, Nyora & perhaps Poowong join of course this wont happen too much politics then of course why would the Ellinbank sides leave their comp they would only dominate against the sides from the weaker Alberton league

Yep your right mate.

I have said many times both leagues are fairly similar. Alberton probably has stronger juniors as most are bigger towns, seniors are similar but Ellinbank teams have more star players. Ellinbank is improving quicker though being so close to berwick/paky/cranbourne so much easier to get players.

That league is good in theory but no way would any ellinbank clubs want to swap leagues, we have not much travel in our league and its easier to attract players playing closer to growth areas.

Good response I agree the Ellinbank is getter better all the time and will eventually take over the Alberton for the reasons you've mentioned

Understand why LL & other Ellinbank teams wouldn't join a new league Would be a good comp, reality is Wonthaggi needs to join a stronger comp or become 2 teams.

They are travelling well at the moment l don`t think any side will beat Wonthaggi at this stage ? but they would be a very good side in Ellinbank Comp. As for finals they have, l think only missed once in the past 5 years.

Get rid of wonni and then probably burra to the Gippy Latrobe and you have a fairly even leauge. Look at what Stony has done this year, shows every team will be a chance. Doesnt matter what league PI are in they will always be a long way away for most teams. Its poor by other teams to whinge about going there once a season, PI do it every second week.

I think he was talking about KillyBass too, not Korumburra-Bena.

Killy-Bass have not played any finals at a senior level since joining Alberton injurys to key players and lack of depth has cost the club but a lot of work is is being put in to rectify this but takes time or throw a heap of money (which they havn't got) at the problem for short term success

Good to hear panthercat hope the hard work pays off.
Who's coaching these days?

Gee ellinbank league must have really improved over the last 4 or so years.

Any chance Killybass getting Ben Fraser back next year, I see he has nearly kicked a ton in the warrnambool league this season.

And yes Ellinbank has really improved a lot recently. Cora Lynn and NNG have boosted the standard of the league from seniors to u/13's.

Dennis Vague has been coaching last 3 years and has retired from coaching. It would be great to have Ben Fraser back it would also be good to have Brent MacCaffer (Collingwood) Mitch Golby & Dale Hoghton (Gippsland Power) back as well joining Steve Obrien not a bad side and all locals who game through the jnrs at K-Bass.
There is no harm in dreaming.

Well Fraser is living in melb and driving to warnambool to play country footy. Surely you would be a chance to get him back. His team should win the flag this year which would help get him back. Would be a star in the league, Golby wont get drafted so he will be good too.

Heyfield boy for some time...

kor/bena STRAIGHT SETS, TWO YEARS IN A ROW!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
does anyone one else find this funny? would also think IK would take the cake in the two's as well. will have to rely on juniors and netball for the silverware once again

ya right stamp but should have. Still, lost a crap load towards the end last year. Look at it like this, lost the last game in 08 to drop out of 2nd spot (hence losing double chance) then lost elimination final. May as well be staright sets.

either way i guess they should of done better this year. especially with the players they have. alot of talent in there, not sure why the wheels fell off but they did.
