It's hard to tell how well he did it overall, but he definitely put in some solid defensive efforts. Also noticed that for a dude as skinny as him, he has decent bodywork.

But the main thing I noticed is that when he kicked the ball it went to a Freo player, which is a novel idea coming from Emmett.

Two goal assists as well.

He looked clean when he got the ball, and contributed enough to keep his spot for 3 or 4 weeks

According to O'Meara he is being asked to play a role he's not familiar with in terms of holding shape and position rather than hunting the ball and its taken him a while to get to terms with it.

Could well be another example of JL settling a player in position and getting the best out of him like he did with Acres.

The guy can football. If he can keep building fitness, touch and confidence he could be really key come finals time with his cool head and good skills.

Chapman makes such a difference. His combination of athleticism, skill and sheer hard edged will to compete is rare, as his his overheard ability. I said it last week, say it again, there is a bit of Fyfe about him.

Sharp is epic. We now have the Acres role covered by a better player than Acres. Losing Henry may well turn out a blessing.

Treacy has to be close to our best rookie pickup for a long time. I reckon he'd go top 10 in his draft now. A guy his size with his kicking skills and contested marking. I really think he's just getting started too.

What an enjoyable game. It was one of those where I couldn't bear to watch so was playing guitar and just listening. Seemed like every time I looked up we gave the ball back to Melbourne so I pretty much ignored the whole first half. Once we were like 14 goals ahead of something in the 2nd half I put the guitar down and enjoyed the rest. Looking forward to watching the replay.

We need to absolutely make sure we have Tracey tied up for good, he is terrific already and gunna get much much better.

That is the kind of performance we have threatened to have for a while but finally put it together. The main difference being the forwards actually performing and converting.

Sturt was okay but I don't think he was good with ball in hand. He was too slow to make decisions and almost seemed like he thought he would have the time he normally does in the WAFL. Hopefully JLo gives him a run of games to get him up to speed. He can be a major it factor in our forward line if given the chance.

One thing nobody has talked about is us getting stronger after the bye. Cox coming back into the backline is going to be massive.

I don’t want to take away from a great win but we can’t get ahead of ourselves on this. Melbourne were putrid, but you can only play who’s in front of you.

What a great team effort! Kudos to the coaches.

Maybe Sturt and Banners were behind a few of the other performances but somehow as a group we had lots of space up forward and the weapons to take advantage of it. Some of that has got to be attributed to Sturt's running and Banners going 110% from 1st to last.

Switkowski was an essential part of our overall speed today. If he stays fit (and in the midfield please JLo) we could see a sustained lift in our performance as a team.

Isn't it great to see nearly alll our kicks hitting targets! Even the dreaded going backwards and sideways today wasn't too bad. There were no stuff ups and usually we ended up in a better position.

The bye hasn't exactly come at a great time for us, gotta keep up the momentum lads.

Worst Performance: Channel 7 commentary team. The centre bounce early in the 3rd summed them up. Darcy shoved Gawn out of the way and took the ball, turned and lumbered off in the clear. It was a great moment that captured what Darcy brings but also the coaching plan to restrict Gawn's influence and the story of the game. Those k***s were just crapping on about something else and never even mentioned it.

I agree Melbourne weren't great BUT their first 5 mins showed that they were there to play and desperately wanted that win. The Dockers hit top form today and made them look 2nd rate.
