Loved the Darcy/Jackson combo beating up Gawn. Loved Andy and Caleb winning the contented ball against Viney and Oliver.

I was expecting with the unsheltered ground, that the wind might have been a factor in today's game that would drop the skill level and we'd have to be quick to pounce on lots of stray kicks, but our kicking skills around the ground had high disposal efficiency numbers.
Without being perfect, I still couldn't believe the number of the target kicks we hit with precision, getting the ball to drop between two Melbourne players to our player on the lead, especially along the boundary.

Sturt just needed to step his game up to the speed and strength of AFL and his class will be infectious.
It should be no surprise that as soon as Jackson can negate Gawn they are stuffed. Darcy just shoving their second ruck aside and sending it down the mids throats.

Our biggest problem last year was that we got bullied in the midfield by bigger bodies. it seems this year we are the bullies and it’s great to watch. if we can get that forward connection more consistent this year we could be a threat. today proved how good we can be we made the best regular season team of the past 4 years look like the eagles of 2023

Not the standout from today or anything, but this team is noticeably better when Freddy is playing. I assume he was subbed out as a precaution?
The burst of speed he has is so important for us, it’s the icing on the cake for days like today. But in the tough and tight arm wrestle type games, it’s our point of difference. He’s getting more consistency in his game now and we need to keep him fit and playing.

Freddy. As far as we know there was no injury.
Draper was much more composed today. Also attempted a couple of intercept marks which is encouraging.

What a great win. Darcy, Serong, Brayshaw and Young destroyed the very highly rated Melbourne midfield.
Amiss and Walters got some form back, Switta played an amazing game. Clark continued his stellar form. Sharp also very sharp.
Treacy is our success story of the year with his vast improvement from previous seasons, he was very good again today.
A welcome form line from Fyfe and JO'M too. So much to be happy about as a Freo supporter.

Really wanna lock him in long term, but he signed a 3 year extension less than a year ago so I doubt there’ll be new talk soon.

Treacy wins the ball on turnover (caused by Banfield creating the turnover), handballs to Brayshaw who kicks it to Banfield. Treacy then charges forward to receive the kick from Banfield, wins the ball again from a dodgy kick, handballs over to Amiss who kicks the goal.
