Just listened to First Crack. Literally all the commentary was how bad Melbourne were. With one "credit to freo they played really well" thrown in at the end.
He shocked himself too. Had so much time to get rid of the ball he had no idea what to do.Darcy just absolutely shovelling Gawn out of the way was hilarious.
Nah, for whatever reason, they had their WC performance. They were horrible, still takes a good team to win by 90 thoughI agree Melbourne weren't great BUT their first 5 mins showed that they were there to play and desperately wanted that win. The Dockers hit top form today and made them look 2nd rate.
Were still top 4 at the start of the round.Nah, for whatever reason, they had their WC performance. They were horrible, still takes a good team to win by 90 though
Worst Performance: Channel 7 commentary team. The centre bounce early in the 3rd summed them up. Darcy shoved Gawn out of the way and took the ball, turned and lumbered off in the clear. It was a great moment that captured what Darcy brings but also the coaching plan to restrict Gawn's influence and the story of the game. Those k***s were just crapping on about something else and never even mentioned it.
Yeah, it wouldn't take a good team to beat North by 90 on an off day, it being Melbourne is why it still deserves its credit. We were very good, they were very badWere still top 4 at the start of the round.
It's funny how expectations change. Before the bounce I would have taken a one point win but in the last quarter I was annoyed we couldn't keep the 100 point margin and was concerned it would end below 90.It was like when Pearce barrelled straight through that guy. Someone like Dusty does that and their voice goes up 10 octaves in excitement and they wet themselves in enthusiasm over what a great moment it was.
Pearce does it and they barely register it happened other than a quiet chuckle about the Melbourne player.
Nah, the Vic footy shows will still concentrate on the Vic teamsFirst Crack too
An enjoyable week of footy shows and podcasts coming up. Couldn't have asked for a better way to go into the bye!
Nah tbf they do give us credit where due and it's due after that. A 92 point elephant in the room they can't ignore.Nah, the Vic footy shows will still concentrate on the Vic teams
What a great team effort! Kudos to the coaches.
Maybe Sturt and Banners were behind a few of the other performances but somehow as a group we had lots of space up forward and the weapons to take advantage of it. Some of that has got to be attributed to Sturt's running and Banners going 110% from 1st to last.
Switkowski was an essential part of our overall speed today. If he stays fit (and in the midfield please JLo) we could see a sustained lift in our performance as a team.
Isn't it great to see nearly alll our kicks hitting targets! Even the dreaded going backwards and sideways today wasn't too bad. There were no stuff ups and usually we ended up in a better position.
The bye hasn't exactly come at a great time for us, gotta keep up the momentum lads.
Worner was great in the sub role.
Thanks for the cool thread title.

I hear you, but then wot about the opening 5 minutes? They looked pretty good then...Nah, for whatever reason, they had their WC performance. They were horrible, still takes a good team to win by 90 though
Your mum is a legendHow good is this. Mums dropped off chicken pie. Gonna eat it and watch the replay IT HONESTLY DOESN’T GET BETTER
The pies game taught us how to score.Jackson and Darcy did an absolute masterpiece of a tag team on Gawn, have to remember this is only Darcy’s 2nd game back from his latest injury, Jackson with less time in the ruck is starting to find his feet again as a forward. We are slowly replacing our weakest links as the weeks go by, 1st was tabs, replaced by Darcy/Voss, then was Hughes, replaced by Chapman, this week it was Emmett, replaced by Sturt.
Our underdone players at the start of the year are building confidence (looking at you JOM) it was such a great team effort we didn’t need Banfield’s heroics, but he was solid.
This was our defining game of the season, time to start putting teams to the sward regularly
