Probably the best attempt yet. Also, I hope you mean Girffen from the Bulldogs, not Griffin from Fremantle. A lot of talent in the squad that could easily interchange by years end. I'd even be tempted to swap Griffen with Boyd, his impact on games has been slightly greater than Boyds for me.

Agree with that. I'd probably have Petrie on the bench and Fyfe onto a starting flank as well - borderline call however.

Martin is in the team. Another 5.1 goals and 22 touches for him. Averaging about 24-25 touches and has kicked 21 goals for the season so far. Stick him on a HFF. Absolute freak. Lids was also sensational tonight, didn't rack up 30 touches but everything he touched turned to goal, torched Brisbane. Had him as our 2nd or 3rd best. Those 2 would be our best bets for AA so far.
Agree with this.

B: Heath Shaw - Michael Jamison - Matthew Scarlett
HB: Sam Fisher - Luke McPharlin - Brett Deledio
C: Scott Pendlebury - Jobe Watson (vc) - Joel Selwood
HF: Nathan Fyfe - Travis Cloke - Dale Thomas
F: Dustin Martin - Lance Franklin - Steve Johnson
R: Dean Cox - Chris Judd (c) - Marc Murphy
INT: Gary Ablett - Sam Mitchell - James Kelly - Scott Thompson

EMG: Daniel Wells - Ryan Griffen - Andrew Swallow

That's what I'd go with so far. Scotland/Kennedy are the only two that I'd think about brining in if they dominate tomorrow. Plus I might move the mids around a bit, Mitchell starting, someone to the bench etc. Those are the names I'd go with for the 22 though. Wells, Griffen or Swallow deserving as well. As are Mundy, Bolton, Cotchin and Bartel probably. As always plenty of mids.

Martin has 21 goals now. That's enough to warrant a FP position imo. Obviously Walker still has to play tomorrow but he has only kicked 9 more goals. Not enough considering how many more games Martin has ripped apart.

The definitive GordonGecko midseason AA squad.

B: Matthew Scarlett, Michael Jamison, Josh Gibson

HB: Bryce Gibbs, Luke Macpharlin, Joel Corey (Vc)

C: Dale Thomas, Jimmy Bartel, Chris Judd (C)

HF: Steve Johnson, Lance Franklin, Nathan Fyfe

F: Jeff Garlett, Travis Cloke, Josh Kennedy

Foll: Dean Cox, Scott Pendlebury, Marc Murphy

I/C: Joel Selwood, Gary Ablett, Aaron Sandilands, Jude Bolton.

You know it.

This is the team as it currently stands.

Perhaps the only interchange to be made would be Cotchin in for Bolton or Bartel.

Poor Gordon. Many Disagree. Suck it up princess.

You're talking his performance up tonight when he was lucky to be a top 5 player for your side, let alone on the ground.

Martin
Cotchin
Vickery
Houli
Rance

Were all better and had a greater influence on the contest.

Houli may not have been taken pick one, but he's playing the same role with similar effect.

Deledio was robbed of AA last year by the hype of Harry O and the pies drive to finals.

Barring injury will be a lock for a HB position in 2011

Martin's a gun but he's a fair way off a spot in the AA midfield. Has played a couple quieter games despite hitting the goals regularly.

Might sneak a spot on the flank or in a pocket if the selectors want to get more mids into the team.

I don't think anyone is expecting him to be picked in a starting mid position but he has to be in contention for a half forward or forward pocket position given he plays long spells in the forward line and sometimes even as ff.

Sam Mitchell anyone?

He's been doing it for almost a decade has Mitch, and always gets overlooked. In the first few for clearances, contested ball and leading the leaue in disposals per game. Beautiful kick of the footy as well on both feet.

How this guy has never had an AA gig, is probably the biggest joke in league football

Mitchell is vying for a position against some of the games elites.

He's simply not in the same class bracket as a Judd or an Ablett or a Pendlebury.

He is great leader and workhorse. Just lacks a little polish and hurt factor of the AA material mids.

Luke Macpharlin will take some beating.

interesting to compare the stats this year, as i havent seen a great deal oh mcpharlin so i couldnt comment on his season

taylor hasnt been beaten at all this year and has improved even more on his AA season last year

could you or someone else get the stats for both this year? as much as possible if u can pluck them out

lol, I haven't seen much of other teams this year but 'player x' from my team is a lock.

Then tops it off with the very convincing 'hasn't been beaten this year' line.

i have seen a good deal of mcpharlin over his career but not a great deal this season, and unless mcpharlin has gone over and above his previous years form then id probably say taylor is a shoe in

and would you care to enlighten me who has beaten taylor? it wasnt a attempt to convince it was almost a fact, he was AA CHB last season and he has gotten even better this year

i am not one of these people who get into these archives and pull out all detailed stats, wouldnt have the first clue where to look, so if someone could compare the twos seasons it would be interesting to take a look at
