Pavlich would be one of the few who will be in the coaches votes 4 weeks running. Stuff being on the bench. He should start. The only lock from our team so far. Besides him, only Sandilands, Mundy and possibly Broughton are in contention from us

Watson would be in atm. I wonder if Fletcher would come close. Or Ryder perhaps.....these are the ones from Ess of course.

Gibson - ????? - Enright
Shaw - ????? - R.Murphy
Embley - Watson - Mundy
Fyfe - Pavlich - Cloke
Garlett - Franklin - ?????
Cox - Moloney - Swan
Sandilands - J.Bolton - Pendlebury - Goodes

Because it's still so early it's too hard to separate a lot of the players. Could easily swap half that team. M.Murphy, Judd, Bartel, Griffen, Mitchell. I missed the Freo game yesterday but McPharlin at FB maybe? Fletcher CHB? No idea really.

My midfield would be Swan, Pendlebury, Watson, Mundy and Pavlich. Moloney and Bartel on the bench. Cox an obvious ruck.

Can't think of any key defenders who stand out. Heath Shaw and Enright off half back do though.

HF. Bolton, Franklin, Fyfe

One of Dawes or Cloke are probably the other key forward. Pockets?

Jurrah in the FP

Jamar in the ruck.

Frawley at FB

Pretty much what AG went with, just a few tweaks. Like him, I can't come up with a conclusive CHB either. Fletcher maybe? Gibson's probably a bit undersized for the FB post, but we are surprisingly light on for choice. I think Jamison has been okay, but it's only 4 rounds in so his missed game kinda excludes him a bit.
Could potentially throw Rutten into the mix, I think has performed pretty well all things considered.

Franklin doesn't play full forward and Pavlich doesn't play CHF.

Franklin's role at the moment is CHF/HFF/Wing. And if he wins the Coleman playing from there, he should be named there, not full forward.

Pavlich is playing predominately as a midfielder. If he's picked it should be on the ball, not as a lazy cop out on the half forward line.

My forward line after 4 weeks:

HF: Fyfe Franklin Cloke
F: Garlett Dawes Jurrah

Any chance Darling could sneak a spot in te squad of 44 if he keeps up his performances or even gets better?

Kane Cornes was DROPPED last week.

Goddard has been well below his '10 form.

Ablett has been Gold Coast's best player this season? Despite only playing two games, one of which was average at best?

You really need to get a clue.

My forward line after 4 weeks:

HF: Fyfe Franklin Cloke
F: Garlett Dawes Jurrah

And Travis Cloke doesn't play on a flank nor does Jurrah play in the FP. Dawes also rotates heavily with Cloke and Brown, he spends significant chunks of the game at CHF and leading high up the flanks. All three of those selections are still completely reasonable and acceptable though.
You're arguing semantics. Providing it isn't a Dane Swan forward flank type selection, then it doesn't really matter overall.

Franklin spends just as much time inside the 50 and starting around the square as he does up on the flanks. Sure, he has had a trot through the middle at times during this year, but he is still a more than justifiable selection at FF. Same goes for Pavlich at CHF.

Poor Collingwood can't even get a starting 18 player :D

Not going to comment on freo players but Sam Mitchell has been impressive this year and would have to be in definite consideration.

Contenders from Freo:

  1. Sandi - goes without saying
  2. Pav - averaging just under 28 poss, 5 tackles, 7 clearances, 15 contested possessions a game.
  3. Mundy - doesn't get recognition over east. Averaging over 28 poss a game at a high efficiency, over 5 tackles a game and a lot of contested possessions. Just going on his DT rating he has stepped up again this year going from a 90 to 112 point average.
  4. Fyfe - averaging over 27 possessions (13 contested), 4 tackles per game.
Honourable mentions to Mcpharlap and Grover as defenders also.

Definitely, he's been very good and has pulled in some big numbers so far.

Hawthorn should have one definite at this stage (lulz it's round 4), and that is Franklin.

Mitchell, Sewell, Rioli and Burgyone (bar last game for the both of them - pretty quiet) have been four of our other better players this season.
