Fun facts:
Luke Simpkin - has claimed Australians are unknowingly being converted to Islam by eating Halal meat.
Don Randal - claimed the cost of a one-night stay in the far north Queensland city for himself and his wife, as well as two airfares from Perth each worth $2,388.20. A week after the trip, Mr Randall updated his register of members interests to declare that he had bought an investment property in Cairns.
Nice...

Looks like many of the junior ministers (plus Andrews and Abetz) are saying publicly that they would vote against a spill motion.
Likely they would lose their Ministries?

Andrew Robb says he has no idea whether the spill motion will succeed. I would have thought that if Abbott was confident of defeating it, his ministers (at lose that support him) would come out and say that the motion has no chance.

It's actually pretty sensible from WA liberals

Andrews is in Abbott's inner circle. Abbott losing means the end of his career high.

Indeed. Him and Minchin were the blokes that worked together to bring down Turnbull and make Abbott leader of the party.

Abetz saying Australia needed its border protected, carbon tax stopped and a free trade agreement. He's saying these are the really important things and the gov has delivered. He's insinuating nothing else matters. he's saying its good public policy and everything else is shenanigans.

Agree with Abetz. On top of that what exactly has TA achieved thats worse than operation open borders and 1200 dead, operation house fire, stopping the live cattle trade, the worlds biggest carbon tax and attempting to whack a 30% tax on mining as the industry teetered on the edge of a downturn? Please tell me, remembering the senate Labor Green voting veto includes Labor blocking $5b in savings they themselves proposed and the Greens inexplicably blocking fuel excise increases.

I think, like Keating, he'll tell the media that if he's challenged and lost on Tuesday, then he's fired his "shot in the locker" and will go back to the back bench.

But I also think that he won't run. I have a suspicion that this is designed to flush out Abbott's opponent.

Kevin Andrews the doddering fool, is on ABC News 24 telling everyone he's voting against the spill motion. He knows that if Abbott is defeated, he's no longer a minister.
I tend to agree, with you and also questioned if Abbott behind it? More so now that Bishop has declared her hand.

We need an election.

Imagine the brainstorming session to come up with that;

Right, we need to sell what the government has done, WTF have we done? Boats, there is always boats. We farked the environment again, our base loves that shit so as long as photos of the reef still look good, and we signed that thing with Japan, what was that? Right, run with that

Idiots

If Turnbull becomes leader Australia has no real choice at polls. We will have Turnbull’s Labor-like versus Shortens Labor and Australia heading down the Greek gurgler. Labor has shown no signs of having learned any governance lessons from 6 years of the worst governments we’ve ever had. Bleak times ahead for our nation. It can only get worse.
Turnbull will be your saviour and the coalition will have a real good chance of being reelected under him, you obviously are of a different opinion, that being the case who do you think would be a better choice that Turnbull to lead the Libs?

It's definitely got an 'absolutely nothing will happen on Tuesday and no-one else will throw their hat in the ring' feel about it to me. If there weren't pretty definitive reports that Bishop was siding with Abbott, the next few days of speculation would have been a lot more fun.

Are you still here?
Stop waving the flag and join the thread discussion. "Will there be a leadership challenge against Tony Abbott by the end of the year?"

I want Abbott's scalp soon as possible (the future is not written) but if they want to draw this out longer and keep hurting themselves that's okay too.

Kevin Andrews has announced he will be voting against the motion. Good luck to whoever is standing against Abbott on Tuesday, he'll need it.

That has just convinced me to back whoever it is that runs against Abbott. Kevin Andrews? FFS, well past his use by date.

But it is irretrievable for Abbott. It is open season on him now and the public can taste blood. They want it. There is no possible way back for him. So what is the point of deferring?

But say if Costello did challenge Howard around 2004-07, prior to the 2007 election-would Costello have won the vote and thus the election as well?

Costello would have never won the vote at any time against Howard whilst the status quo of Costello as treasurer remained. Keating won the second time because he got to go to the back bench and run his own agenda. So long as Costello was treasurer he was in Howard's pocket, exactly where Howard wanted him.

If they stick will Abbort they will get demolished next year. Labor will be praying he has the numbers

I wonder how many backbenchers with ~6% margins will be thinking about the QLD election when they vote on Tuesday
