Geez its tough to decided between him and Darling but. Darling IMO has been forced into a more important role within the side (because of injuries) than Gaff has and is performing more than admirably. Gaff doesnt get the attenion from opponents that Darling does right now. That 2010 draft could turn out to be an absolute ripper for us but

Can anyone remember and article early last year named something like "A week in the life of Andrew Gaff"???
It covered his new life in WA, training, recovery, food, and heaps more.
I would really appreciate it if someone knew where I could have a read of it again
thanks

whatever we think of Fyfe, why would we even bring him up when the thread is about gaff and previous 2nd year players at the EAGLES?

That 2010 draft could turn out to be an absolute ripper for us but

Darling, dominant KPF for the next 10 or so years.
Gaff, the heir to the Embley wing.
Lycett, the heir to Cox's throne.

And I love the way Brennan goes about his football also.
2010 we did very very nicely.

As for Fyfe vs Gaff argument. Different players, different positions. Both bring excellent things to the table. Both are guns.

Somehow I don't think Lycett will be a patch on Cox but that's not saying he wont be decent, its more that Cox is at the absolute pinnacle of rucking. Brenna is a super find, if half our new recruits had his drive and determination we would be laughing.

Lycett doesn't have to be Cox. Lycett needs to be a competent ruck who can start in place of Naitanui if necessary.

Our non-participtation in the 2010 was a mistake and i said it at the time.

We ended up elevating Wilson at the end of 2010.

I don't think he will be another Cox, given how Cox ranks as one of the goat ruckmen.

Too say Lycett can't become another Cox based on the evidence of what he's produced so far is probably a little bit off, when Cox was playing for East Perth they where going through a period of domination and Lycett doesn't have that luxury.

In Cox's first year at AFL level he averaged 7 touches...

I'm a bit confused, everyone here goes on and on about how he is an elite runner yet apart from the sub affected players he spent the least amount of time on ground out of everyone against port.

Yeah, he got a cork early. Did very well to play as much as he did.

Jakovich in 1992. At 19, he held down CHB in a premiership side.

Maybe this thread should be changed to "Best 2nd year player in the past two years", such is the insistence on airburshing everything that happened more than five minutes ago.

Not often I read something in here and think "Spot On!" but hey maybe this time :)
