Talk on the Hawks board about player movements out. The likes of Frawley and Isac Smith mentioned. Both could land a 1st round pick.

Allegedly Hartung being courted by the Eagles could be the sweetener.

Where there is a will there is a way.

I like the optimism Obeanie1 but do you honestly believe that either Smith or Frawley (who will both be 30 next year) will net them a first round pick ?

Not a chance. They'll both be moved on similar to the Lewis and Mitchell deals

Jeez are they THAT old?

Thought late 20's.

Well GWS have finally woken up and aren't interested in crusty 30 year olds so I guess they are off to the Gold Coast.:D:thumbsu:

Thats not going to help us in the here and now, rather keep Gaff for the year and take what we get in compensation at the end of next season, if he moves on.
If we were a bottom six side then banking future first rounders may be of some interest but we are not a bottom six side.
A first round pick in a highly rated draft could be huge for you in the long term. If the Eagles aren't interested in it someone else would be and we can on trade what we get. If it comes to it we can 100% get a deal done.

What's the AFL rule about trading first round picks? Would have thought Hawks next years first rounder is off limits as a result
Ffs, how many times does this need to be corrected.

It doesn't come into effect until 2019.

Every club Is free to trade future picks.

Ignore every Hawks poster who wants to get rid of Frawley - would be mental considering the state of our backline. I for one would rather have Frawley back than 2 forwards sitting behind the ball.

West Coast are going to want a very good deal for the bloke considering he's contracted and they don't have a strong midfield.

For this reason I think he'll stay but they'll be looking at offers.

Sounds a lot like the Savage/McEvoy trade. Savage had an offer from the Saints and McEvoy's name was suggested by Hawthorn in the trade.

WC have a considerable deal on the table for Hartung and it sounds like WC are open to trading Gaff as part of that deal. Given the exchange of players and the fact that WC really want Hartung, Hawthorn would probably get away with a second rounder.

It's all well and good to highlight other teams with good currency, but it doesn't help getting Hartung to West Coast.

I wasn't highlighting any teams with good currency, just that it was unlikely he'd be traded unless it was a great deal.

Not sure a second round pick and an ordinary player in Hartung would get it done to be honest.

Hartung and next years first maybe.

Right you are. Others have suggested St Kilda because of the strong draft position.

I agree with what you're saying. I don't personally rate Hartung but West Coast obviously do. 4 year deal has been circulated for a while so I'm just suggesting they may not need a crazy offer to trade him.

Talk about being delusional...

Their is a zero percent chance that we offer up Gaff in a deal for Hartung, a player whose interest has been manufactured from bigfooty.

Hartung is uncontracted and hasn't exactly set the world on fire. Not sure WC would have to give up an AA contracted midfielder to get him.
