Voss is getting 900k but only half is counted in the salary cap as far as I know.

I think that is what the Lions sought from the AFL in terms of the veteran status - does he need ot be on the list to get the discount??

otherwise they'd have to keep him on the list and be one short

however $450k is still one star of the competition.

bear in mind dean cox is on $300k p.a.

a lot of the $900k is a result of back ended seasons.

so regardless of whether he plays or not - the amount still needs to be paid to him.

in addition to that, whatever amount is paid to him (reportedly $900k) this will be included within brisbane's 2007 salary cap

He's on the veteran list so it's only $450. Big difference.

Hay was traded for Motlop and a pick, plus we got a second rounder back from Port Adelaide, so get your facts in order.

And then lets go back to Alvey, Camporeale, Matt Allan, Haffernan, Murphy and don't forget - Henneman is still on your list. :D
and we paid so much for all of em.

I suspect if Fevola was traded Princess Park as we know it would cease to exist. It would be burnt down.

You say that like it's a bad thing. I'll never forget my birthday last year, which also coincided with the last ever AFL game played at that glorified rubbish dump. Best birthday present ever!

Maher is just one of a hundred AFL scavengers desperate to carve out some credibility.

He's simply trying to get involved in trade week like a kid in a candy shop...what better way to draw attention to your own name then mention .............THE BIG ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's desperate to get to the next level of respectability in the game but is unfortuntely making it far too obvious....he is still a nobody in the game.

Maher is a leech.

sure :thumbsu:

Maher has just obtained everything he'd hoped.

people are already forgetting the fact that he's just a nobody and are actually talking about what he said....sucked innnnnnn.

FFS people...its MAHER !!...the swannettes STILL know more about footy than that geek.

That may be correct (have no idea of his contract). But staying on the vet list means his "spot" on the list can't be replaced.

Only technically. In practical terms:

1) We elevated 5 rookies last year, several of whom we'd want to retain (Roe, Stiller and Harding being the most likely)
2) We return one of those to the rookie list officially
3) Draft whoever we like into that spot
4) Move Voss to the long term injury list
5) Re-elevate the demoted rookie.

Easy ;)

Never given up a 1st rounder for one though... Let alone 2 of them.

Not to mention these "old hacks" still had more of an impact at our club than Hays had at yours.

Your an imbicile, Hawthorn got pick 18, only.

Unless the fact that he has announced his retirement means that the AFL won't register him as long term injured. they do need proof of this before they are placed on that list, and while he may have retired, that does not mean he is injured. What is the contract/retirement status of Michael and Leppistch?
