Voss is getting 900k but only half is counted in the salary cap as far as I know.

I think that is what the Lions sought from the AFL in terms of the veteran status - does he need ot be on the list to get the discount??

otherwise they'd have to keep him on the list and be one short

however $450k is still one star of the competition.

1) We elevated 5 rookies last year, several of whom we'd want to retain (Roe, Stiller and Harding being the most likely)
2) We return one of those to the rookie list officially
3) Draft whoever we like into that spot
4) Move Voss to the long term injury list
5) Re-elevate the demoted rookie.

Unless the fact that he has announced his retirement means that the AFL won't register him as long term injured. they do need proof of this before they are placed on that list, and while he may have retired, that does not mean he is injured. What is the contract/retirement status of Michael and Leppistch?
