Anthony Stevens on Open Mike

Not really up to us to say. Stevo has been all class publicly the whole time, and what he, his wife and their kids are happy with is completely their call.

1999 GF - busted ankle and then ripped a muscle in his chest, from memory. I do know that Cam Mooney's most useful effort all day was carrying him on for the post-match celebrations.

How did he get that scar? I don't think I've ever heard about that before.

Stevens sues over injury

Former Kangaroos teammates Anthony Stevens and Wayne Carey are set to resume a Supreme Court battle next March over injuries caused when falling glass hit Stevens outside a Melbourne hotel.

Stevens, 32, lodged a writ in May last year claiming his football career had been severely restricted because of the incident.

According to documents before the court, Stevens lost two litres of blood and had two operations after the glass hit him outside the Redback Brewery Hotel in North Melbourne on March 11, 2000.

Stevens suffered a 20-centimetre gash from the corner of his mouth along his right cheek and down the side of his mouth. He claimed unspecified damages against Starbiz Enterprises, described in the writ as the hotel controller and licensee.

A company search showed Carey, who left the Kangaroos after it was revealed he was having an affair with Stevens' wife, was a director and shareholder of Starbiz Enterprises at the time of the incident.

Listing Master Kathryn Kings said she would list the case for trial starting on March 10. She adjourned the proceedings to a callover list on February 6.

Not really fair on his kids though, to be reminded constantly that their mother allegedly cheated on their dad. That is stuffed up.

Allegedly?

Was a terrible low and unforgivable act by the King, but still think Carey got a raw deal out it. She is very lucky to be forgiven and for the media to portray her as the victim.

That was from a very nasty falling glass incident IIRC.

Carey owned the pub by the way.

K Stevens wasnt no angel or have everyone here forgotten that.

Yep it takes two to tango and she was in it just as much as Wayne was. And I find it sexist that the bloke cops all the wrap while the bird slinks away relatively unscathed. Imagine if it were the other way around. We'd have feminist groups going troppo. Fair farking dinkum society shits me.

Not this again. She did the wrong thing by her husband - blame and forgiveness is entirely between the two of them. Carey did the wrong thing not just by a friend, and by his own wife, but also by the team and club he led, and everyone associated with the club who had put their trust in him. Of course many more people were let down by him than by her, so he naturally wears more of the fallout.

Less seriously, having been the mother of a newborn myself, I thought she deserved a bloody medal finding the energy for an affair. But whichever way you look at it, she owes none of us anything - if Stevo chose to move on, that's all that matters.

Out of curiosity - as I can't remember either way - didn't both parties get back with their Mrs for a time after it had all happened?

No-one portrays her as the victim. Presumably she had done enough good in the previous years she and Stevo had been together that he decided forgiveness was the way to go. As many other wronged wives and husbands do. And Carey is going fine with his side of the "deal".

Yes.

Stevo with Kellie for some time I believe.

Wayne and Sally was short lived I believe.

Would be interested to know who he still hangs around with from that era - and whether or not he had a 'falling out' by extension with others over what had happened.

I know McKernan, who was gone by that stage anyway, said on his Open Mike that he felt a bit disappointed over the taking of sides.

I mean allegedly because I wasn't there, don't know the full extent of what happened and I have never heard a full account of it.

But, if it was consensual them she had committed the far bigger crime imo, she had made a commitment to Stevo, Carey never did. I think if he could bring it in his heart to forgive her and move on then why would you drag it through the media constantly, how can you move on by constantly reliving it?

I don't think the way he and the club handled it did anyone any favours.

What was the actual glass though? Was it from a sign, a window or did someone drop a pot off a balcony or something?

Agreed, but really it wouldnt be the first time someones wife has been poked by a best mate, has been happening for hundreds of years & will go on happening. Everyone should have kissed & made up instead of decimating a football club.

Dude I normally respect what you write but that is crap. Carey and Stevo were about as close as two blokes could be. You absolutely do NOT do that to a mate. Yeah she was at fault to, but she doesn't rep this club and never has. Stevo has remained silent on this until now, dragging it through the media constantly??? Please.
