It's not so much about help but the AFL milking 2 of the so-called Big 4 early in the season before they turned to sh*t and produced less milk later in the year.So even the big clubs in Victoria need help now.

They haven't tossed yet, but can't wait to see who the 23rd man is.
Each season has a pretty repetitive feel about it and this match is a big factor. Nothing against either club, but it doesn't need to be the same teams every year.
One of the positives of 2020 was that the fixture didn't have the same old repetitive feel about it, certain clubs weren't playing each other twice at the usual time of the year, clubs weren't playing other clubs for the second time before they'd played other clubs once, etc.
Not watching tonight, I've seen this one before.

More entertaining than previous years but still the same old predictable result. Carlton have not deserved the season opener for years so it won't be changing now when they're a better side. Still doesn't make it right though.

Um where is Freo's home ground? Optus stadium.
Where is Geelongs home ground? In Geelong.......not the MCG which is the Tigers home ground.
Geelong has a massive advantage over teams playing at home in Geelong. They loose that advantage playing their home fixture at the home ground of their opponent who happen to currently be the GOAT team according to its fans.
How this is the same as Freo playing the Eagles in Perth?
Its totally different.
Now Richmond playing another MCG tenant well THAT is the same.

Not sure why the complaints about last night. Ripping game. Just glad to see footy back in front of Melbourne crowds, at the best stadium in the country.

Nah it was an entertaining gameAnyway another boring opening to the season.
AFL marketing and fixturing obviously run out of ideas on how to better market the game. Time for some new blood and new ideas.

I watched Parramatta vs Melbourne. Good game in the wet, went right to the wire.

Well according to the head of the NRL our game is boring compared to Rugbaaa league so I am sure the NRL numbers must be massive especially with a 4 try beauty they played out last night.
