Acknowledge yes as you have done but not harp on it as others have, some people find a loose thread in their new sweater and they simply can't resist picking at it until the entire sweater is unraveled.
Better to return the new sweater to the store in exchange for one without a loose thread.

Pendles played the match sim on the wing which meant some of the new boys go a run in the centre.

I thought Bear’s grunt work was good and Poulter was great as the second-touch mid who had a more experienced player gain then feed him the ball before disposing well

All the first 6 picks from 2020 had a really good session
- Ollie took some good mark and was good with his field kicking
- Macrae did plenty early
- Reef got lots of it today, impressed me
- Poulter did well in the centre
- McMahon had a great sim
- McCreery had a number of shots in sim

I was at Victory park in 81 at the end of the season. Pies vs hawks? Kink kicked 3 in a quarter. Best I saw him play. All the talent but not much of the drive.
81 was my first year of VFL. Daicos and Craig Davis were almost unstoppable as half forward flanks...
Moore, the Shaws, Peter McCormack...Magro

How we didn't flag from 79 to 81 is criminal! 21 pts up at 3/4 time in the 81 GF.

Sigh!

Edit - add 77 to that!

I thought he looked good at times at half back - getting the ball in traffic in defence and spotting up the right option forward in the middle third of the ground was a really refreshing feature

That was before the introduction of the 6-6-6 rule. He was able to play as a loose defender coming off the back of the square. Not so sure he'd be as useful if he had to be accountable for a direct opponent. While he's still impacting in the midfield, I don't think we should be looking to move him.

From memory he had a bit of a run through there in the pre-season games last year. Recall seeing him at a couple of center bounces and contests around the ground.

Doubt it means to much, but I'm glad to see they're at least willing to try a couple of different things. In saying that he's a good size and a strong athlete, so could be something there. We're crying out for another bid body in there so if Bear doesn't get going we may need to look for an alternative.

Get what you are saying. However If they are giving Magden a go in the middle with a view to him playing there at times, it better be for the VFL. Bloke belongs nowhere near centre bounces at AFL level.

I would rather they throw Greenwood back in there. Smaller than madgen but plenty enough desperation and mongrel

Friday January 22nd.

I rode my bike this morning. Left at 8:10, and arrived about 8:40am. not too bad. It's getting up that hill around Bridge road thats the bugger.

It was good timing as they were slowly starting to come out. There was these people up on the balcony above, I didn't know who they were. Just thought it was some function. Sponsors or something. There was lots of clapping and laughs. Then discovered on social media it was the parents of the draftees. As they are introduced to the rest of the boys.
I don't remember this happening before, at least that i've noticed. But I love it. The player welfare does a good job.

I love fridays. Match sim days. :D

They started with the warm up, and little drills they usually do before getting into the big things.

Only Mhochek didn't train, who seemed to go to his car and then back again. I later saw him walking to the cafe near aami park with a couple boys. Hopefully he is back out on the park soon.

Howe did some agility work, taking the next step forward. Also did some running.

But otherwise, we've got a real fit squad (tap on wood) Though Keane did hurt his finger in the match sim. Hopefully no damage and will fix itself up.

Match sim was quite productive. They trialled different combinations through the middle. Jordy was there for a period, he was also down forward for a while. Jamie was predominant forward I believe. Steele seemed to be on the wing and then moved up forward; kicked a couple goals.

All the draftees were pretty good today. Maybe they were putting on a show for their families who were watching Haha. But all very good and promising signs from everyone.

Reef was put up forward and also in the middle. Poulter was in defense and in the middle. Chugg half back, which suits him very well. Ginnivan, Henry, McCreery all forward, and they bring different things to the table. Macrae wing.

I found Cameron to be quite impressive and commanding today. Clunking marks with those hands, and think got a few goals.
Jamie was also quite lively.
Adams was a workhorse running all day, as he does.

In the ruck they did a few combination between Grundy. Lynch, Cox and Cameron.

I felt Tyler Brown was everywhere. This might be his breakout season incoming. He was quite prominent.

Quite the decent match sim hitout to end the week.

Here is what I was able to capture.

Nah, Liam needs to bulk up first. Doesn't have the body for AFL. No need to push him when he isn't ready.

Well sounds very Promising in Training Reports.

Could he get a Few Games as a 3rd Tall like Ruscoe did last season?

yes, promising in a match sim is one thing. But ready for a brutal AFL game? Probably not yet. He doesn't need to be rushed. He is a developing key forward. Lets protect him as much as possible.

Guess we might see in the Pre-Season Games
