While we all have high hopes for Scharenberg and I think he could ultimately have a higher ceiling, it's a bit of a stretch to say he's surpassed Langdon already.

I’m not a massive Langdon fan. He ain’t quick and I think his decision making and skill execution can be really poor at times.

Scharenberg is better at those two elements but he has to improve his intercept marking which is where Langdon has an edge on him.

I’d have Shaz bc he is capable of being the better player and I’d rather commit games to him than to a player who has had enough chances. Just my view.

Saw shaz up close last year ( geelong vfl praccy game)
Always seems in control but does a fair bit of waxing mainly with th SA boys , needs urgency
Couldn't believe same game how bad Langdon looked, very very loose and slow

Other than murray we don’t have one and I’m not inclined to put him in without having seen him in that role with us. I’ve seen a bit of him at NEAFL level and for mine he ain’t a walk up start.

Me neither. I'm thinking he'll play most of the year in VFL. So ... there's going to need to be someone like Adams or Smith or Aish or even Stephenson or someone else who is going to play on the small forwards.

Mods or Mazzarjo - is it possible to create new threads for each new training report, rather than bundling them all into the one? I find I am always having to look through the thread each time (and often it is just discussions about players, etc) to find a training report that may or may not actually be there...

I love the training reports (they are fantastic!), and don't want to miss them when posted because I couldn't find it from wading through bundles of comments less relevant.

Thanks!

Maybe the Mods could put in the Title where to find the Last Report?

We usually remember to put the post number in the OP that relates to the most recent report.
We'll blame the time of the year for it being missed this time.

Reports recently were that Langdon was one of the fastest recorded times by Champion Data GPS. Obviously must of us were left stunned in disbelief, but it is what it is.

He slows down so much when he has the ball in his hands that we think of him as slow and don't notice how fast he is when the ball isn't in his hands.

He also seems to have brain fade moments where he's just miles off his direct opponent, although normally I consider him relatively good at reading the play.

I was gunna say I reckon you've only missed one.

Reading the title is an effort though I agree, perhaps you could send out personalised emails.

Reckon Langdon, has Scharenberg cover for speed, may have more upside than Langdon, but will need to show it this year. As it stands Langdon is in front of shaz on all levels

Nice idea OA but it won't happen.
Our mods are happy to collect their paychecks each week but as soon as you ask them to do something the lazy phuks come up with some excuse as to why it can't be done.

Great more mail:D

Hey Guys, I'm just curious as to where you think Scott Pendlebury will be spending most of his time playing this year. Is he likely to be predominantly in the midfield or do you think a move onto the half back line is on the cards? Not asking for Fantasy Footy purposes just genuinely interested seeing as you have the likes of JDG and Maynard ready to push into the midfield.
Scott will be onball, resting forward. Still our most important mid, our big weakness is use of ball and particularly going inside 50. Pendles and wells are critical in that regard. Our backline is relatively settled, don’t see him floating back there

Nah it was taken from games afaik. What we don’t know is how many times he hit the speed, it might have been some kind of miracle.

Down hill with a tail wind.

Counting the dollars is distracting and takes time. Think about that before you ask even more of us.

Perhaps I see something that his critics don't, but I see Langdon as a very good player. He shows the same awareness/ evasiveness as Pendlebury at times, and while not as well endowed in this area as the captain, he does have far fewer games under his belt. I would be unsurprised if he were to develop into a true star.
Like most others, I was very surprised by the data on his speed - it is not apparent to the eye.
He is often on the verge of being caught when he gets his disposal away, and it may be that the fear factor this engenders in us causes a downgrade in our assessment of him as a player.
I see great value in having him there for the increasingly frequent occasions when Howe is tagged out of the intercepting job. He is not as spectacular as Howe, but his marking is almost as strong.

Sums up my thoughts perfectly. He was drafted around the same pick we used for Goldy and is a gem for such a late draft pick.

Don't quite get the Langdon angst.

Nice player. Does his job overall.

Perfect? No.

Ok? Yes.

If he plays well he rightly gets games.
