I don't think Adams kicking is that bad honestly. I mean I wouldn't have him taking kick outs, but he's not limited to just dishing the ball out by hand. I think his kicking is markedly better than it was.
I think he just had to realise his limitations. He’s not the type of kick that can bullet pass 50 meters to a chest every kick. Maybe with our lack of kicking skills he thinks he has to roll the dice on everything. Where if he pulled it back a bit he would be a pretty reliable kick.

I'm not a once bitten twice shy guy. I think players should take risks and improve their kicking. He's made a bunch that have come off very nicely but we only remember the burns. Only some players shanks too, interestingly. I think a bit of this goes back to him being part of the Shaw trade. Maynard, my man and yours, has burned a few himself.

Agree completely. With Adams we remember them too as although he doesn't statistically shank the ball more than other midfielders (less than Dustin Martin for instance) because he's always taking the game on and kicking to dangerous positions of the ground, his turnovers tend to hurt us to the extreme. However I believe there's been steady improvement over the years, and asking him to stop would be ridiculous as we already struggle enough getting into the forward line, what we need is more players taking the game on by foot.

I’m all for taking the game on but I think with experience you learn when to and when not to pull the trigger. Adams probably should know when to now and Maynard is still trying to find his feet. I’m expecting the shanks to be less and less each year for Maynard. Him playing in the middle will only improve him. He’s a very lovely kick into the F50.

He was kicking pretty good when playing half back. To me he is a panic merchant , and over thinks things rather than relaxing and hitting targets naturally.

He is thinking too much about technique and what ifs.

Players need to feel part of the team before they play their best footy. Shaz isn't at that point yet where he's established in the best 22. So the criticisms above are fairly pointless until we get to see what Shaz is capable of doing once he gets a free run of injury free footy and some continuity of playing each week in the senior 22.
Confidence is king in sport, you can’t blame a young man for being low on confidence with the rough trot he has had.

I don’t expect him to meet his potential this year, 2019 is more realistic and fair.

I think he crumbles when pressured and isn't v good 1/1.

just imo.

I'd hazard a guess it's the majority opinion based on exposed form. Always thought he was more predisposed to a forward role but has been slotted into defence because Ramsay and Sinclair weren't available.

His job should be to get in the hands of guys who can hit targets, Pendles, Wells, Sidebottom, WHE

Training: [Insert month] 2018

A few jogged laps, there were some promising skills on display with a few of the new recruits. Some of the old guard showed their class in a match simulation. Mason Cox signed a lot of autographs at the end.

This is better than all of the player abuse.

I don't think people appreciate how good WHE is and is going to be

I love it that we have Stephenson to pair with WHE as well. I reckon they'll prove to be a cracking combo and add a lot of class to the side.
