Are St.Bede's U19's really that good?

This is an interesting topic having seen Rupo u19's go from Red Division to Section 1 in the last 5years. My take on coaching is you cannot really judge a coach who has the best cattle(I hate that word). You can judge a junior coach by the way his group has developed 2-5 years after he has coached. This is the true test. Are they still playing football? Do they have the passion? Do they believe in themselves? Do they give a little back? Are they successful outside of football? Do they have a strong core of mates? Have they improved their skill? These are the factors that will determine the influence of a good coach. Good luck to the Tigers they appear to have a very successful formula. At Rupo we have had 5 U19 players in the seniors every week and remained competitive in Div 1. Sounds similar to the Tigers, from these threads we are not as professional as them, not sure we will ever head that way.

St bedes are not a strong team in the ACC, they have provided some competition over the years but never put it together in the one season.

De La, Parade and Barnyards have always been the strengths. With new teams joining in the past few years STB have slipped further down the pecking order

Spot on Manny - lured they have been.

Is this u19 team also an amalgum of St Bedes and Mentone Grammer, also? That'd just about double the player-pool if so?

Tigers have won the last two MSJFL U17 Div 1 Premierships. A number of excellent Cheltenham and St Peters players attracted to the tigers because they are mates or go to St Bedes. Also a few Haileybury boys amongst the ranks as well. The Mentone Grammar influence is not that strong, but definitely showing healthy signs at the lower levels and will kick in. Tigers are the only club in the VAFA that are school aligned, yet also like a district footy club with their junior set up, Auskick and history. By the end of the season the U19 South team will be making a mark as well.

Plus they have a healthy contribution from Edi-Asp way in the seniors. Brennan, Anstey, Scaf brothers, Terrells, Corda, the Beasleys, McCraw etc.

The feeder primary schools into St Bedes goes from Chelsea to Hampton to Dingley. Then you got the Yr 10's from St James Moorabbin who also go to St Bedes.

who cares about st bedes mentone? they probably could match it in "premier" but they arent there so who cares. when their "professional" club can have teams in the grand finals in A grade and under19 premier, then they should get their own thread about how good they are! xavs had that last year (including a A reserve victory) and de la could come close this year. however their under19s would probably still smash most teams in premier, but would still lose to the good ones, even with the supercoach who should probably be coaching richmond by the sounds of how good he is! or maybe even west coast..

Are you serious mate, De La and St Bernards come to mind immediately, with St bernards especially doing it better and more consistently than any other team. Lets not get too worked up. Your seniors are on top in B Grade and your U/19's are also on top in what could also be called B section.

Start doing it consistently in the big leagues then start talking yourselves up.

5 players from st bedes u/19's playing in the seniors this weekend against beaumaris. may deplete the BIG Division 2 under 19's side . They may only win by 180 pts this weekend.

I've seen some big percentages in my time watching VAFA football, but never with a team like St Bedes Mentone Tigers in Div. 2 with 1500% leading into Round 7!!! How would this team go up against the best Under 18 team in the TAC Cup?
