On the rebuild, what would it look like different than today?

* 8 players on the weekend (still haven't seen the game, travelling overseas, dammit) that weren't in the Geelong final.

That looks rebuildish to me.

Next year we'll have another 4-6 new players. That means a 60% list turnover in two years. If that ain't a rebuild I don't know what is.

True but we were lucky yesterday and whilst we have blooded some young players needed some older ones to be dropped like Gibson like Puopolo you don't get belted like we have over the last few weeks and keep older underperforming players in the side because of nothing else other than past deeds if you're supposedly rebuilding .

We would've been unlucky to lose yesterday. You can only play so many inexperienced players each week, we drop all older players and there's no leadership/guidance for the young guys.

I
Guys young enough to be at our next tilt for a flag and clear best 22:

Breust, Rioli, Smith, Gunston, O'Meara, Mitchell, Burton, Brand, Stratton, Frawley, Shiels, Cegs...

Jury still out on Hartung, Langford, Hardwick, Stewart, JOR...

That's a lot of spots to fill.
Think we can add Hardwick to the first list of players.

That's a little ridiculous considering we are only 29 games into a 66 game rebuild period. We wont have finished turning over our list for another two trade periods yet.
Clarko did it in four, bevo in two
Admittedly neither followed Malthouse

Yep, MM and some of the others in the football department really set us back a long way. We are doing quite well overcoming it I would suggest. Fair way to go yet.
I like what Bolts and SOS are doing, the hope for your guys is that the board let them get on with it and don't pull a Carlton

I firmly believe that Ratts was a scapegoat. He might not have won you a flag but he is a damn good coach and the proof was in what Malthouse served up

He was blamed for a list that wasn't as good as most believed, very happy to have him at the Hawks

I agree, that's the fear in the back of my head. At the moment, Bolton, SOS, Football Department and the Board are all singing from the same hymn sheet and everyone seems to be on the same page and the message being sold is the same from all. If one of them starts to waiver from the plan set out for all and sundry if results get a bit shaky, then I fear a return to the Old Carlton. I think all our supporters have faith, with fingers crossed BTW, that we will see the New Carlton emerge from this period of rebuilding. Patience from all, supporters included, is needed to sustain our current direction.

Secondly, I agree Ratten was made a scapegoat too. I hope he gets a second chance as a senior coach.
