For what it's worth, the brilliant minds at Sports News First have a story about Leigh Brown looking to be our development Backline coach after he retires tomorrow..
http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/articles/2011/09/30/brown-could-coach-at-melbourne/
What do we all think of that? I've only really seen his work at Collingwood where he's being used a Ruck/Forward, has he played Backline before?
Hate the bloke with a passion, just screams 'dumbass' to me. But I trust Mark Neeld and he would have had the best view of him working so closely with him. I suppose he wouldn't be directly in charge of the backline, just a specialist development coach...
In saying this, SPF did break the story so it's most likely nowhere near true...
you now nothing
The assistant to each defensive, midfield and forward line coach will also be directly responsible to that zone with Melbourne’s VFL affiliate club Casey Scorpions under senior coach Brad Gotch.
This is possibly one of the most ironic posts ever.
JTR, you lose the interwebz.
But not sure whether I'd want Brown doing it!
I like the idea of ensuring Casey play the same gameplan as the seniors.
To be fair to Brown.
He's a quite average player but managed to play 200 games.
He must surely be an intelligent footy mind!!
That just sounds like common sense for a professional organisation & it's probably exactly what Geelong & Collingwood would be doing have full control over their VFL affiliates. But I'm sure it's a hard thing to do with limited staff, really like that this kind of thing can happen now we're upping our coaching numbers.
Brown, IDK, didn't someone suggest him earlier in this thread? We've all trusted Neeld's appointments so far, so while I don't initially love the idea, I'll keep faith for now until proved otherwise.
