Australia A vs India

So there's a proper warm-up game for Australia A against India coming in late November I think. Here's what I'd play:

1. Joe Burns
2. Will Pucovski
3. Nic Maddinson
4. Matthew Wade (c)
5. Cameron Green
6. Ashton Agar
7. Josh Inglis (+)
8. Michael Neser
9. James Pattinson
10. Sean Abbott
11. Mitchell Swepson

The top 3 are competing for an opening spot for me, whilst Wade and Green are competing for that last middle order spot. Couldn't figure out who to put at 6 so just put Ash there because he's started well this season and Inglis for me should be next in line after Paine and is having a great season so far. Bowling wise, Neser and Pattinson are clearly next in line after the NSW quicks, Abbott has started well with bat and ball and Swepson has clearly become the next in line to Lyon.

Hard to argue - though Carey might feel aggrieved to miss out for the gloves

might also depend on if they want to give the Indians any sighters at test players
The first 3 day A match is played at the same time as the T20 matches so Carey won't be available. Also means that Green, Abbott and Wade probably wont be available either.

Then replace them with, um, I honestly don't know.

The logical thing would be to release Green once the ODI's are done seeing as he almost definitely won't play a T20, but this is CA we are talking about so they will probably just have Green run drinks for the T20's instead of playing a match in his best format...

I'm seriously talking about all three. Maybe Whiteman if he makes runs and push Puck to 3 and Maddinson to 4? And bowling I really don't care, bring in Sutherland or whoever

Green isn't even in the Scorchers best X1 yet - i doubt he'll be selected in T20 - plus you'd hope he would be prioritised for red ball duties.

I’ve always preferred the Australia A team to be made up of people looking to break in to the national team for the first time, maybe the second. We know exactly what Burns and Wade can do. I’d rather see Harris or Whiteman in the team.

We also know what Harris can do, flounder like a fish on dry land.

Whiteman
Burns
Pucovski
Wade (c)
Maddinson
Green
Inglis (+)
Neser
Pattinson
Swepson
Hazlewood

I feel like they'll want Hazlewood to get some red and pink ball practice in, especially seeing as he's actually not that great of a T20I bowler. Same with Wade and Green.

I read Sean Abbott was in the mix for the Test squad, forget Australia A. Not sure how he gets past Starc, Cummins, Hazelwood and Pattinson.
They want an all rounder at six wouldn't surprise me if pig boy or abattoir were there

Looks like the selectors are doubling down on Carey as the next keeper which is disappointing.

Inglis is as good a bat and a significantly better gloveman IMO.

Hope by the time Paine moves on that Inglis gets the nod

because ideally they want whoever the next keeper is to play all 3 forms of the game?

That would be incredibly silly. Horses for courses.

Pucovski will open as if he gets a game he will open. so why would you bat him at 3 lol

Not from what Langer has been saying. They're happy with Burns/Warner but can see Pucovski batting anywhere in the top 6.

Colour me shocked...lets just put Marnus at square leg..Burns won't last long!

No, I like the fact that we are now seeing multiple options as next in line (not just for a keeping position but openers, bowlers, middle order bats could use some depth).

I like the way Alex Carey carries himself but I just don't see "ït" when thinking of him as an international test cricketer. He seems a nice cricketer. Think Graham Manou - esque
